the second half was better than the first? that’s about all the positives i have about it. noah was so horribly selfish and every move he made he did in spite. he was a horrible friend and partner and child. he literally only used his parents for money without any understanding for other peoples issues?? the only good character was devin, who was an angel and deserved so so much better

this was really cute!! i think it could’ve done with a little more time for actual plot stuff and development of relationships but if you want just a fluffy lil book with very sweet characters, this will be perfect. i want more of them <3

i’m pretty sure steven salvatore writes specifically to hurt me. ouch.
the writing is full of drama and passion and a deeply desperate need to be loved, understood and accepted. it is brutal and honest and not entirely a happy story.
but it gives you hope and shows you that fighting for who you are is always worth it. even if you shouldn’t have to.
this was surprisingly heavy and it did take my by surprise so please please check trigger warnings for this if you need them <3
but i love this authors writing style and the way they write their characters. phenomenal as always.
also, the relationship isn’t the focus! don’t go into it expecting it to be :) this is, at its core, carey’s story of their fight to be recognised and treated like everyone else <3 (the lil bits of romance was very cute though! (and heartbreaking :,))

i adored this. it was so poetic and important and soft and messy and it was everything i want and need in a book. the found family (and blood family) was so beautifully done and so so wonderful to read about. the characters were messy, made mistakes and learned from them. changing themselves and the people around them for the better :,) i loved these characters and the scenes in this were all so pretty as well!
perfect for fans of: ‘she drives me crazy’, ‘late to the party’, ‘ophelia after all’ and ‘full disclosure’!
i wish i could write better to demonstrate how much i adored this and how much i wish i could get the feeling i had reading this back. yes, i cried. i miss them, i am soft, this book is soft and now i will scream into the void <3

i’m going to be honest, i have absolutely no idea what was going on most of the time but i really enjoyed it regardless. i think the narrative style was really fun to read, and it reminded me of ‘psalm of the wild-built’ in the regard that it’s full of psychological messages and remains a metaphor for society. i really liked it!

this is the best romance book i’ve ever read tbh. purely because it was so so sweet and gave me genuine butterflies. it was adorable and gentle and warm and had absolutely no angst! i loved it very much, and i love them even more <3 d’vaughn is an angel and i would die for her
edit: i would like to add that the lack of development on the reality show itself has kind of dampened my view of how much i enjoyed it. plus, i think it was all quite surface level without much development on subplots and relationship outside of the show? i really enjoyed it still!! but upon reflection so much more could have happened to make the novel more immersive :)

i have never been so bored and so disappointed in my entire life. this book was awful (for me). nothing happened, no plot, no character development just no development in the slightest.
the story told you from the beginning what it was about and that was basically it. if you read the first and last chapter you wouldn’t have missed anything.
the worst thing is, i was so so excited to have a book all about sapphic villains but it just wasn’t? they weren’t really villains other than “oooh we take and eat hearts blah blah blah” genuinely so boring. and the writing is so juvenile and yes i am unnecessarily mad about the whole thing. i just didn’t like this at all and would not recommend it. but it might be for someone, idk.
also! the entire battle scene (if it can be called that) was so anticlimactic. it wasn’t even a battle, there was no description you were just being told what happened? when i put this down last month i should have never picked it back up again lmao. oh well, on to better books i guess.

fuck. this was so beautiful and so heartbreaking and i am ✨emotional✨ it was lyrically gorgeous and reading it felt like burning and falling in the tumultuous battle of my heart. it was so pretty and way too short for the amount i loved it. this book is best devoured and savoured, held almost as close to my heart as my favourite verse novel “clap when you land”. i loved this, if you couldn’t tell :,)
edit: lowering my rating slightly because this is kinda forgettable? i know i enjoyed it, i just can’t remember why <3
