i really enjoyed this short story and these characters! i just selfishly wish we could have had more from them and that they had their own novella in the moonies universe :,)

especially as one of the mc is trans femme!! but i loved it a lot

easily my favourite book of the year so far

made me feel so many things!!! one of my favourite found families ever written

this was pretty average. i probably would’ve liked it more but 150 pages of the book were spent at the same party in the same room - it was,,, boring. and i know it’s meant to be like the breakfast club but i don’t like the breakfast club either LMAO 

it also over used popculture references so much to the point i was cringing multiple times per paragraph and some of the second hand embarrassment was… intense

i still enjoyed it but, wasn’t what i was hoping for unfortunately 

the first half of this was SO. GOOD. k was certain it was going to be a 5 star but,,,, the second half was incredibly disappointing 

i’m so conflicted :(

but it had a t4t4t polyam relationship so <333

perhaps my favourite middle grade book ever <3

okay i’ll admit, i cry a lot, but there was something about this one,,,, that was so gentle, earnest and hopeful that has just left me sobbing 

our nb mc does not take anyone’s bs and they stand up for everything they believe in - throwing in easy to understand well written life lessons that you just sit back and go “wow, it really is that simple” i mean COME ON!!!! the shoe metaphor??? i’m still reeling

but i don’t know, maybe it’s the fact that children are going to get THIS now. i am mourning for the child version of me that didn’t have callie and triumphing that so many children like me are now going to get to see them, have them, be them <3

the relationship and circumstances in the first 50 pages of the book were super rushed and didn’t make much sense.

but this story was good!!! i need more  polyam fiction desperately (especially starring trans main characters, t4t4t?? perfection)

okay, you guys were right, this was good (and also really reminded me of gearbreakers for some reason??)

the deadnaming was probably the thing that took away from this being a 5 star for me unfortunately but i loved it a whole bunch <3 angry trans boys and found family: what more could you want?

i will probably pick this up next month! but im not gonna pick it up for a while so temporarily dnfing
