i THOROUGHLY enjoyed this!!! to get the 5 star from me i think i needed a bit more depth around the relationships rather than it being quite tell not show in that regard.

but it was so fun and so joyful and a very wonderful time all round. i adored these characters (mostly gabriel) and would have loved if this was told from all 4 perspectives instead of just gwen and arts but entirely enjoyable regardless :)

a new favourite romance, such an easy 5 stars <3

NOT a romance like i thought it was but more about finding your place, self discovery, growing with change etc etc. 

a very solid book! but i didn’t love this as much as all that’s left in the world unfortunately (but they are VERY different so i didn’t expect to really)

the pacing was also a little weird at the beginning but it gets better!

a very compelling loveable cast of characters

i think this might be my favourite of the series so far! it had a few pacing issues i found personally but i loved it :) glad to be back in this world again!!

i was going to try and finish this today but i am Bored. and feel entirely disconnected from all of the characters. AND i have so much else i’d rather be reading so dnf’ing for now <3

i was really worried i wouldn’t love this as much as it’s predecessor but i DID. but i loved this book in an entirely different way.

it was so raw. and the messages so wonderful and beautiful. the atmosphere, these characters, the way it was told - it’s perfect.

this is a new favourite series for sure.

i love becky chambers, that is all <3

more sciencey than i expected but i really enjoyed it!! both understanding pieces and learning new parts was a very fun experience. i wish there was more :)

the extra 0.75th of a star is because i felt bad <3

i have never wanted to throw a book more.

not only are the characters insufferable but the rep was poor at best. if you’re going to have autistic sadness (and a character who only stims when upset) please also demonstrate autistic joy. sincerely - an autistic person who is tired of overused stereotypes. and the adhd rep was just “problems focusing” which doesn’t encompass anything at all!

this is without me discussing the too descriptive sex scene, miscommunication trope, references to polyamory as communism??? and just a complete boring plot and characters 

i was really excited for this, especially to have a queer autistic main character but i was let down repeatedly - i wouldn’t recommend this :)

but it’s so FRUSTRATING because there was so much potential!!! and so many threads that were created that could’ve been expanded on. but it was rushed and there was miscommunication and overall - i have wasted 6 hours of my life on this.

OH AND WHILE IM HERE: please don’t ever make a character refer to another autistic character as a “nutjob” or “hanging around with her will make you as crazy as she is”. it’s fine in certain circumstances ig but there was really no reason to have this in the book. except to make autistic readers feel bad. regardless of how the main characters reacted to the statement. 

ANYWAYS sorry for ranting, i hope you enjoy more than i did!
