The book is pathetic. The way author presents her view is so typical of a lot of Muslim writers. They present their conclusions. Just that. There are no citations, no theories to back up the conclusion, no history, nothing. They concluded that because they wanted to.
At one place the author states,"The traditional family is also the unit of stability of society and the four wives that a Muslim can marry, like the four sided Ka'aba, symbolize this stability!" I fail to see how the author reached to that conclusion. What if Ka'aba had 6 sides? Would Islam have permitted 6 marriages then? The comparisons are so nonsensical.
Next she go on to bash West for its support towards the feminist movement. Something which has "fortunately" not touched Muslim countries. If it is up to her, she will ask every lady to wear 'purdah' and then stay at home.
And she doesn't support the equality of sex either. According to her, that concept is ridiculous. A man is the head of the family and that is it. No arguing with that!
In all, the book is extremely biased and presents a very narrow view of life. A lot of points made in the book doesn't have any support, in theory or in practice. An extremely ridiculous book if you ask me!

As is my habit, to read a book before going to sleep, I opened the book and started reading it. The plan was to read a few pages and then go to sleep. Half an hour and 25 pages later I was all smile and wide awake. It took me another half an hour and great effort to finally put down the book and go to sleep.
It has been a long time since I read any of the Bond's book. With age the preference shifted towards more matured fiction (if there is anything like that). And when I opened the book last night it was as if a tide of memories stormed me. I laughed so hard, the introduction itself was so funny. His recounting of the incidence where he kissed Brigadier's wife mistaking her for someone else was hilarious. There were tears in my eyes from laughing.
His books seem so timeless, with the purity of the soul of a children for whom most of his books are written. The language is so elegant, so fluent and still so easy to follow.
It was like a beautiful trip to read the book! :)

You have to love Amul, if not for the quality of their butter (which is the best) then for their wittiness!
The book contains some of the Amul's most famous, funny and controversial ads spread over the last fifty years and will surely make you laugh your ass off.
A must have for your book shelf! :)

Are you crazy fan of Sachin who reads everything that Cricinfo publishes on him on their website?
Yes?
Don't buy the book then. Almost all of the memoirs or two interviews published in this book has already been published on the website sometime in the past (near or far).
However if you want to have a book for your bookshelf because Cricinfo has published it on one of the most accomplished cricketer of the world, then go ahead. Buy it and enjoy reading what other greats has to say about him.
And the book doesn't even cost much! :)

Happy Reading!

Well, obviously not as good as the celebrated Godfather but is a good read.
Many of the characters are already known so the story line is easy to follow. The people are described in similar way to that of Godfather and some may find that a bit repetitive. Unfortunately the story doesn't have a happy ending! :(
