I struggled with staying interested. The story line was good but there were too many characters to keep track of and at some points I just didn't care anymore.

Wow. I just loved this book. I couldn't get enough of Mei Lien's strength as a granddaughter, daughter, wife and mother. As an immigrant, I found her struggles heart wrenching. I loved that she didn't give up and her love for her son and heritage made me weep. Great read!

Beautiful. The best historical fiction book I have read in a long time. Kristin Hannah transports the reader to a very difficult period in history and does it in a way that is very personal. You suddenly feel like the main characters are part of your family and you're pulling for the sisters, the husband and the grandfather. This is a book that will stay with you long after you read it.

I really wanted to like this book but the first 2/3 was the same thing over and over. It was hard to get into it because there was absolutely nothing happening. The end proved that this author could have possibly done something more interesting to start, but we'll leave it at that. The premise of the book was so good. I'm disappointed.

This was a cute book. Perhaps it should be required reading for anyone obsessed with social media. I loved it when her friend said "What I'm trying to say is people lie, people cheat, people leave people. And sometimes you just have to accept that you can't edit life the way you do online. This isn't Facebook. It's the real world, for Christ's sake. Sometimes you just have to let your arm look fat in the picture."

The premise of this book broke my heart. It's amazing to think that so many people live a life controlled by what others think they would want. I loved how the author showcases the different perspectives to give us glimpses into their lives.

I loved this book! It was very unique and I loved the twist at the end. Well done!

This is the first NR book I've read in a while and it was great even though I predicted the end early on. I love how she developed the relationships amongst the characters and the setting was ideal.

Eye-opening story about how racism affects different people.
