CW: Anxiety and intrusive thoughts

Told in verse, this book is tied up so neatly and exemplifies the feeling of developing your first crush. As eleven-year-old Stevie starts to experience fuzzy feelings for her friend, Chloe. The Deepest Breath is a book all children and queer people should read. It's a book I wish I had as a kid when I started developing feelings for girls and didn't have the words to match what I was feeling nor any adults to guide me and tell me it was okay. This is such a positive read and I loved the adult figures. Stevie also experiences anxiety. I loved being in her head as she thinks the worst of her social interactions by trying to predict what happens next and worries about her mother. It's such a real portrayal of being in the mind of an anxious person. Fortunately, her mother reassures her and lets her inquisitive daughter ask any questions she may have.

"Home is you"

Short and sweet. A cute romance that felt realistic. I liked the cameos from the characters in American Dreamer. And loved the happy ending. However, this definitely wasn't my favorite, more so because of the shortness, I didn't know much about the main characters and wanted more!

I loved the characters and the story. Cannot believe this is Herrera's DEBUT! I loved how different Jude and Nesto were and how much joy was woven into the hardships.

My only complaint is the 3rd act breakup :/

Hands down one of my new favorite books and authors. Can't wait to dive into their other works because this world and these characters were so much fun to read. I loved how careful and gentle the author was with the sex scenes and Mario's story arc.

CW: Misgendering, Transphobia, mentions, and illusions to colonization

Really enjoyed this! It was a short read yet impactful. It's a modern take on Alice and Wonderland following an Ainshanabbe non-binary person on a trip with their school and it talks about colonization and land being threatened to be taken away. I wish there was a character for the Chesire Cat to be a full Alice and Wonderland retelling but nonetheless, this had great story structure and illustrations. It's very much a technology-based retelling.

This was an excellent debut. Lately, as I read thrillers, they're too slow paced for me and this was exactly what i was looking for! It's intense, gory, and super queer.
