‘None of this is serious’ was painfully relatable. It looks at relationships, the internet and how obsessed we are with image.
I felt very called out! Our protagonist Sophie is fixated on how the people around her perceive her, she reads into every interaction and dissects digital communication meticulously. She’s desperate to make something of her life, to escape the floundering ‘what do I do’ post-graduation and is focused on the goal of buying a house. I really saw myself in her and her insecurities.
This was a quick, enlightening and empowering read. With an ending that would usually frustrate me, but instead felt like the perfect way to leave Sophie.
If you’re looking for something a little different give this one a try! I honestly couldn’t put it down.

Whilst heavily-researched, this book does require a passing interest in Welsh miners, politics, Thatcher... For me, lack of knowledge going into the book made it hard to be invested in the storyline. You learn a lot through the book, and I do think its an important period for people to be aware of especially UK LGBTQIA+ individuals - speaking for myself, I don't know enough about queer history.
This book was unexpectedly explicit (which is not necessarily a bad thing, though did make the train journeys awkward) and I think had to try to hard to balance between a political historical (ish) fiction and a queer coming of age story.
The ending, for me, felt right. I liked how the future opened up for our protagonists and how there's a whole world of opportunity for them. Following the romance and Eluned finding herself were my favourite moments in this one and I'd love to hear more of their story and am excited to see where the author takes us next.

This is one of my favourite reads of the year! A YA thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
From the very beginning I was hooked. You have fantastically fleshed out characters who just step out from the pages. And no-one is safe - absolutely no-one! From the very beginning it’s clear that everyone is at risk and everyone is a suspect. The brilliance of this book is how much you come to like each and every character, which makes the continuous twists and turns even more brilliant.
I sometimes find that YA crime thrillers are a little more simplistic and shy away from being ‘too real’. ‘Last Girl Breathing’ does not have that problem. You’ll fall down the rabbit hole of trying to piece this crime together and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be nowhere near the truth by the end.
This one is dark, it’s real, it’s nail-bitingly good. Reading this book was a pleasure and I’ll certainly be reading more of Court Stevens work.

This one was full of twists and turns. It’ll keep you guessing ‘till the very end and has you asking the question - who is the real villain?
My main problem with this book is that none of the characters were likeable. I didn’t really care what happened to anyone and that made it hard to keep reading.
Having said that, the author does a good job of challenging our expectations. You start off liking someone, only to slowly discover their flaws and problems. By the end, you’re no longer sure what you want to happen and who you want to see punished. All you know is that the cycle of violence will continue.
The twists and turns in this were well paced and kept you guessing. It kept me on my toes and you have to question everything you’re told. All in all, a good thriller.

Frustratingly I just felt really meh about this book when I finished it.
For the most part, I felt this was a good book. I loved seeing the three strands of the story come together and the truth slowly unfurl.
But, I felt some things were just thrown in. I didn’t understand the relationship with Rex (particularly when they suddenly reveal they’d been together in the past).
This one just wasn’t fully for me. It wasn’t bad, I just didn’t love it.

There's so much about this one to love! I'm usually not a historical fiction girl but I just couldn't help falling for this one - who would have known a queer love story set in the US journalism world in the 1950s would be so darned good?
Forget grumpy/sunshine and prepare to become obsessed with human with their life together/absolute mess of a person. Andy is a golden retriever of a boy who is constantly losing multiple keys and getting into a range of ridiculous scenarios. And, just like Nick, you can't help falling in love with him for it.
This is a bit of a slow-burn, there will be a bit of screaming at the pages and wishing the characters get a grip. But, you'll fall in love with all of it. In fact, I read the last page reluctantly as I just didn't want to leave this world behind.
This is a brilliant, heart-warming historical romance that will win you over, whether you expected it to or not.

Robert Bryndza smashes it again. I absolutely love his writing and he is fast becoming my favourite crime/thriller writer.
This one was certainly more thriller than I've come to expect from Bryndza, but still a beautifully woven plot that will have your heart hammering in your chest. It kept me on the edge of my seat and desperate to unravel the mystery.
I found this whole book so interesting. It has a cast of characters filled with flaws (obvious or disguised) and it has a mystery that you just can't leave. I finished this book in one sitting - it was that good.
