In Lore, Ancient Greece meets modern day New York. Original and exciting, this book takes the popular Greek deities and gives you the unexpected. Punishment from Zeus sends 9 Greek deities down to earth as a mortal every 7 years. The families descended from Greek Heroes must hunt them and if they land the killing blow, they take their place.

As I said, it was such an original idea. From the very start I was intrigued by the premise of the hunt. The relationship between each House of Heroes was also fascinating. I would happily read prequels about the previous hunts and the relationship between houses.

I felt the pacing was off on this. Some of the solutions felt quite obvious. I spent much of the last section of the book saying come on - it just got a little frustrating. The timing and pacing issues prevented this book being a 5 star for me.

I still enjoyed this book though! It’s a world I’d love to return to. It was refreshing to read something new that used Greek mythology at its core.

This was an interesting listen! This book unravels the secrets of a small town in Tasmania, a town struck by two tragedies decades apart.

It was the first crime thriller I’ve read in a while and I did enjoy it. It mainly has 3 stars as much of the book felt like padding and often was background noise to me.

There are plenty of twists in this one. We’re given many clues throughout as our characters discover new information, this helps us make our own theories. I’ll be honest and say I was nowhere near!

All in all, this was a good read. I’d recommend it to crime lovers who like to try piecing things together.

The last time I devoured more than 400 pages in one sitting it was reading my all-time favourite series, Skulduggery Pleasant. Six Crimson Cranes is THAT good. Myth, magic and curses - what more could you want?

Lim perfectly orchestrates the world we’re shown. Gently, more and more of the myths and legends of Kiata are revealed to us. It leaves you constantly wanting more, desperate for the next bit of information. The world truly comes alive around you.

The characters in this are sublime. Cheeky, radiant, cold women. Mysterious, kind and protective men. You’ll definitely find someone to capture your heart. Although, I am hoping the next instalment may bring some LGBTQ+ representation to the story, I did enjoy the relationships that developed in this one.

I don’t want to say too much and accidentally give anything away. All I can say is you definitely won’t regret sinking your teeth into this downright gorgeous book. I’m desperate for the next instalment.
