I'm so happy I read this book. It gave a lot of insight into Constance Wu's life, many of which I really connected with. The one thing I didn't like was the order of everything in the book. It was hard to follow the timeline when everything was out of order and random.
What a DISAPPOINTMENT! Good ending, bumping it from 2 to 3, but man. This book was a whole lot of NOTHING. Literally, nothing happens until 85% through. And it isn't even horror. It has some gore, but not scary in the slightest. I'm just so sad this book was so dull.
Another disappointment. First, I love a slow burn, &these two were in love immediately. Everything was so predictable. We get a map of the area at the beginning, but no description of how beautiful the clothing is supposed to look since it's made from magical lace.
The book was so dull too. Nothing happens in the first half of the book. They make a dress. It isn't exciting. There's no drama, no tension, nothing to draw you in. By the time the real drama happens, most people would've given up by then. And the actual drama was so predictable. Again, there was no tension.
I didn't care about the characters. They weren't very likable.
Plus, it's called The Vermilion Emporium, so you'd think the store would play a major character in the book, but it does not. The book should've been called Starlight because the magical thread was really the main character. The store barely plays any role in the book at all.
This is supposed to be a love letter to The Radium Girls, but honestly, it's too embarrassing.
I seriously hate boring books, and this book was beyond boring, so I am beyond insulted by it.

Beautiful world-building & interesting characters, but it was written in such a confusing way, I needed help keeping up with everything. The book is split into two points of view, but it should've been 2 separate books.
I just think Maas writes like the more she writes, the better her book must be, and that's just not true. Her books become boring and I just don't care to pay attention anymore. Plus there are so many characters that it's hard to follow. I just don't care about her characters or writing.
I didn't know what I was getting into when I picked out this book. I just liked the title. It was an interesting plot, and reminded me of the old TV show Sliders. A darker Sliders! It was pretty good. I didn't love it, but I'd rec it to a Sci-fi fan!
A charming book with a good mystery. I really enjoyed the autistic rep in the book. It was well-written and not made to seem like a burden on the family, so it is not triggering for anyone wanting to read it.
It's good, but I realized I didn't remember anything from book one or two, and can a book be that good if it doesn't stick with you? The writing is still good with great characters, but it isn't a memorable series. It also has an open-ended ending.
Such a good mystery! I love lock-door mysteries. This is a charming series, but this was my favorite book thus far, mainly because I greatly enjoyed the mystery. I kind of forget all the personal stuff that happened b/c I favored solving the crime.
