The Vermilion Emporium
by Jamie Pacton
Another disappointment. First, I love a slow burn, &these two were in love immediately. Everything was so predictable. We get a map of the area at the beginning, but no description of how beautiful the clothing is supposed to look since it's made from magical lace.
The book was so dull too. Nothing happens in the first half of the book. They make a dress. It isn't exciting. There's no drama, no tension, nothing to draw you in. By the time the real drama happens, most people would've given up by then. And the actual drama was so predictable. Again, there was no tension.
I didn't care about the characters. They weren't very likable.
Plus, it's called The Vermilion Emporium, so you'd think the store would play a major character in the book, but it does not. The book should've been called Starlight because the magical thread was really the main character. The store barely plays any role in the book at all.
This is supposed to be a love letter to The Radium Girls, but honestly, it's too embarrassing.
I seriously hate boring books, and this book was beyond boring, so I am beyond insulted by it.
