If I had to rank all of the stories I have ever read by her, these would be at the bottom. Read the lottery, if you want to read a short story by Shirley Jackson.

This was different than I expected, want to try more by her.

The gigolo was my favorite 

Didn’t read far but I couldn’t stand his pov so I stopped.

I got the German translation of this book from the library and I don’t know if it’s the authors writing style or the translation but I don’t like it. Maybe I’ll try again with the English version in the future.

Bad audiobook 

Didn’t know this would spoil one of her novels, which I hate! So I’m stopping bc I still want to read it - sadly now I can’t go blind into reading it. 

I’ve read half of this book and something just happened but I don’t see the horror and I’m just sooooo bored. The dialogue we had so far would probably fit on 2-3 pages which is nothing, why aren’t they talking? It just doesn’t work for me, too much description, there’s no tension… I just can’t read any further sorry
