really good

I'm kind of 50/50 on this book. I really liked it in some parts but I was also somewhat frustrated in others.
Prador are fun, especially the kids. I also liked more glimpses into their lifecycle/ physiology. The "typical" Prador might not have been as interesting but in this series we get many unusual specimens and that's fun! The Brockle is interesting. Glimpses into Penny Royal's and Riss's past are interesting. Most characters shine in this book. But the plot is kind of meandering.
This book really comes across as the middle of the series; it felt like the plot wasn't progressing anywhere in particular and nothing got resolved by the end. I don't know.
Overall, I'm still really enjoying this trilogy. War Factory is the 17th Polity book in publication order and you can really see improvement in Asher's writing over the years!
Moving on to book 3.

Frustrating. In the end it was not my type of book. My excitement kept diminishing as I read. It didn't tell the story I wanted to read. It focused on ideas, human nature, philosophizing... I didn't want that. I wanted plot and characters. I didn't want the stuttering pacing; didn't want everything to stop right after each exciting incident or tense event. Didn't want the protagonist to go groping blindly every which way. Didn't want the last part to be so dull. Definitely didn't want that last paragraph.

Rather dated but interesting.

OK, I’m on board with this ending to the Cormac story.

I enjoyed this. A nice ending to the Cormac story. Close with a prequel. Nice!

Bleak but a good read.

I liked this better than the first.

Up an own on this one. It was slow. The mystery was interesting but dragged quite a bit. Sandy’s perspective was nice; more interesting than I expected.
