I get why so many readers gave this a low rating. Rin is an insufferable and irritating woman. But I'm a crazy woman in my own way so I couldn't judge her for the way she behaves and for the thoughts that go through her head.

I will always enjoy reading this book and no one can convince me that Shirley Jackson didn't intend to write Theo as a lesbian. I still haven't seen the show but I've heard that Theo is explicitly queer and doesn't die so maybe I will watch that sometime, especially since I need a distraction from what's going on in the world.

I enjoyed this, but I'm a bit disappointed that there was no supernatural cause for the deaths of the characters, because that would have been more realistic than the ridiculous plot to kill people on an island. This is my first time reading a book by Agatha Christie, which I only decided to read because the library is still closed. It was fun nonetheless and I might read the other three books I have by her later.

I started this in February and I'm glad to be done with it, but I will also miss Gilda and her vampire family. Reading this has made me want to find and read more books about black vampires. This book is a good choice for anyone who read Anne Rice's Interview With a Vampire but was disgusted by how racist Lestat is.

This is lovely and Griffin is now one of my book bfs. He is so sweet to Jessi and makes her feel good about herself. There were some typos but they are not distracting enough. The slutshaming was overwhelming though, but that's to be expected from a book that takes place in 19th century US.
