TLDR: Wasn't for me, but the advice Wilson gives could be great for those who may need the advice, but can take it in while thinking critically about what is being presented.

I put this book down around the 25% mark after skimming the final 75%, due mostly to nitpicky reasons. I love the idea of this book and I think the 10 characteristics he listed are great. However, I do think this book would have benefitted from additional editorial rounds--not for trimming content, but to allow for broader dialogue and deeper scrutiny of its advice and anecdotes and to challenge some of the contradictions before publication.  Also, I've never liked the tone or style of works in the self-help and/or advice genre so I should have known that I probably wouldn't enjoy it here. That's just personal preference though, so whatever. I'm keeping the door open to revisiting this in the future though. 

DNF'd not because of anything wrong with the book itself, I'm just not in the mood for it.

I gave this book an honest shot. I was ready to have fun. I had to stop reading because: 

1. For a book with so much drama, it’s INCREDIBLY boring. Literally the same thing over and over again. Some reviewers call this a rollercoaster but it’s just a coin flipping over and over. 

2. I truly can’t emphasize this enough—every scenario is so cringey. Like, pre-teen, fanfic, immature fantasy. 

3. This is just my own bias talking, but I don’t find do-nothing rich people interesting in the slightest. I get that in the romance genre the economic fantasy is part of the game, but in this case it does nothing for me.

4. The excessive clothing descriptions killed me. I typically like an outfit description to add costume design to the movie playing in my head when I’m reading, but this was on another level. I understand that it’s her little quirk/skill, but really. 

I would rather look at her paintings. I just completely lost interest in these short stories. The longer ones that I read were entertaining though. 

I truly cannot fathom how this book has such a high average rating. 

I'm not opposed to a cutesy and light-hearted story (this was supposed to be a vacation read), but this was just silly to the point of brainlessness. It's repetitive, immature, and frankly, boring and annoying.  This is the equivalent of a TV show you put on for background noise and pleasant visuals, knowing that if you leave and come back at any point, you're not going to have missed anything worth knowing.
