I found the writing rather dry, which I assume comes from the age of the book. I enjoyed the premise tho and stuck with it and somewhere after the halfway mark I was hooked.
I'm tempted to give it five stars simply out of how much I loved it in the end, but it simply took too long before I became invested in the story.
I enjoyed the story of Miles and how he conned his way into being commander of a military fleet, I enjoyed that he was smart yet panicking in his new, inexperienced, role.
I definitely want to read more of Miles in the future, and see just where he ends up getting into trouble next.

- Talking Companion/Mount
- Skipping levels/exp
- Bug Exploits
- Portal
- Meddling Gods
A fairly mediocre read, a fun evening popcorn read, where the entire goal of the book seems to skip the drudging of leveling and getting to the fun higher-level fights.
Could be a promising series depending on where they go with it.

- progression, very light litrpg elements
- building up to harem probably
- meddling gods
This is one of those books that the less you think about it, the better it is. It's the pure definition of popcorn entertainment.
Despite that, I really liked some of these elements. I liked the friendship the two guys had sparked. I liked how highly they thought of each-other while both suffering from their own insecurities.
I especially liked the.. cougargard? tiger? I don't recall. The feline species and their culture. I also really liked that the two main characters was just plain stupid, and despite the girls falling in love with them, they still thought their guys was stupid to a certain degree. And while I might disagree with how it sometimes was written, that felt horribly realistic at times.

A short and enjoyable read. Really enjoyed the format. They focused far too much on solving the puzzle on why the crash initially happened, and didn't give us much answer about the.. mysteries of the alien planet which in my opinion were deeply disturbing mysteries.
A lot of enjoyment of this book disappeared because the one female crewmember decided to be a raging bitch from the moment she opened her mouth. Which I'm not sure if is a sign of the age of the book or not? She had issues, clearly, but every other male just.. ignored her throwing a tantrum over every single thing coming out of her mouth?
She grew far less annoying later in the book, but then she wasn't speaking much later in the book. Tho you did get to hear her inner monologue. Which was far less annoying.

- Isekai
- Meddling gods (?)
- Snarky interface
- Stats, class and skills, no other interface or inventory
- Melee MC
- Small pov changes, mostly just MC
Some bleak themes which is a little startling compared to my usual light-humourous litrpg. Liked the MC. I liked how he dealt with his trauma of being teleported and his near death experiences.
There were a few.. questionable explanations earlier in the book. Especially the scene where he jumps on-top of a bear but then somehow strikes it from below and through the mouth and up in the brain? Which made me vary of more mistakes, but none occurred after that incident.
This was a good solid book throughout, but what bumped it up from a 4 to a 5 is entirely in the last 10-20% of the book. Which was.. a roller coaster of excitement to me.

I was expecting something light and fun and full of adventure.
What I got made my heart ache, and almost made me cry on several occasions. Should have come with a trigger warning or two.
I wish it was lighter, and I wish it had more exploring-the-magic. But it was a decent love story.
