Here is the unpopular opinion you waited for: Verity was a decent thriller but nothing really special. The plot and the twist at the end were intense, yes. But I expected more.. My theory: CoHo mostly writes romance so for romance readers this thriller is heavy, I agree. For thriller fans this book might not be that extreme, I guess. Also the character palette wasn't really interesting. They all seemed sus at one point (only Crew was fine, I liked him). I also don't get why CoHo added the letter, just to confuse us? Unneccesary. Same thing with Lowen and her sleepwalking: I waited for something to happen which would add to the plot but nothing.

Soooo this one is complicated... The first half was a decent 4 star reading with some problematic and stereotypical scenes but nothing really bad. Then the second half came and it was just hot garbage. It seemed like the love interest and the MC were talking two different languages because they never understood the other ones problem. The "spicy" scenes made me cringe so bad and the only thing that kept me reading was the wattpad like writing. I wanted to like it so bad but I couldn't overlook some of the problems the book has. Overall the plot was fine and could have developed great but the execution was horrible. The addictive writing, some funny jokes, Easton (personal favourite) and the first half definitely push the rating for me but it just doesn't deserve the 3 stars. If you are in a reading slump and still have interest, go for it.
Now to the ending (spoiler free): The ending was so unneccesary. Without giving it away, they can technically start from scratch in the next book. And without any lessons to take away I ask myself: Why did they write this book? (Probably so i could write this passionately written review ;))

Fantastisches Konzept, glatte 4 Sterne.

A sweet love story!! Ella was a little bit annoying in the first few chapters but her development was great. The story deals with some heavy topics too so check TW

First read (2022), original review:
This was my first book by SJM and I quite enjoyed it! The world building was stunning and the plotlines interesting. My only problem are the characters: Celaena, Dorian and his father were just flat and annoyed me quickly. I had no big problem with everyone else but these three got on my nerves. Excluding them, I had fun reading and started to ignore these flaws. Because of that I will be giving the second book a read too! 4 stars.
Second read (2024):
Had to reread the first book before starting the second book. Definitely worth it because I underestimated the amount of plotlines this book had. I agree with most of my thoughts from 2 years ago. The plot is the strongest aspect, even though it felt really spontaneous and not planned. Great atmosphere. The characters weren´t as deep as I wanted them to be but this time Celaena wasn´t as annoying. It just suffered from telling and not showing a lot. Dorian and his father continued being unpleasant, and my "favorite" characters so far are Chaol and Nehemia, even Kaltain has potential.
Knowing that I had forgotten most of the plot tells me a lot about the book: It´s forgettable. However, it works as a fantasy setup and I´m excited to see what the next books have in store. 3.5 stars.

A comic that's great for Marvel fans, wanting-to-be fans or comic readers in general. I'm a book reader so comics are kinda new to me but this was easy to follow, fast-paced, funny and overall an entertaining story!
