One of Frederick Buechner's memoirs, Now and Then is an honest look at his various intermingled vocations of minister and writer. If you've read other Buechner, whether fiction or nonfiction, you'll enjoy this story from behind the scenes. If not, you'll also enjoy a good memoir from a kind and creative soul.
Of particular interest are Buechner's comparisons of love in Christianity and Buddhism; and Buechner's interaction with Agnes Sanford, one of the wonderful lay leaders of healing prayer in the past century.

This book is aimed squarely at art designers and design business professionals. As such, it is a helpful resource to growing a design house. The author is winsome and bright, and his tips will be helpful in that space. Project managers will also find much helpful information also.
For me, it wasn't directly helpful .. But I'll be happy to pass this book along to others who live more in these spaces.

A very helpful look at the structure and anatomy of the person. Quite a bit farther along than my skill is at, but this would be a great shelf reference.
This would be a good resource for the artist who wants to compare ink materials - more than half of the book is a materials resource. The final section gives very high level tips for drawing on location, drawing people, drawing architecture, etc... and those were broad enough that the book wasn't that much help to me.
Before reading this book, I knew something of Dorothea Lange, but not much. This peek into her social documentary photography was powerful... And watching her grow into her vision and voice was astounding. She's now one of my artistic heroes, and photographic heroes. I will be studying more of her work, as much as I can find.
