This is perhaps the best text I've read yet on permaculture gardening, and is very strong at tree guilds and edible landscape design.

This powerhouse resource from Seattle Tilth is a planting and gardening calendar plus a bunch of tidbits and goodies and wisdom all packaged in small form. I cannot recommend this one more highly for Pacific Northwest region gardeners, beginner or veteran.

Fantastic character names, but otherwise not particularly engaging characters or plot or setting.
