Kinda meh but I'm glad I finally read it.

For book club

All the Names

José Saramago

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

The run-on sentences were too much of a barrier for me to feel motivated to resume reading and finish in time for a book club that I didn't end up going to with a conflict.

(See what I did there?)

Definitely not the target demographic but I did enjoy it. Some of the romance text felt troupey but that's just me who never reads romance. I liked the world building.

Is it a novel? Is it a mental health book disguised as a novel? I don't know. I enjoyed it.

The All-Consuming World

Cassandra Khaw

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

The vocab threw me off. It was hard to understand what they were describing. I can't even force myself to hate read this.

Came from the movie trailer. Thought it'd be good research. Would have I been as engaged if I wasn't raised catholic? Probably not. Am I glad I read it before the movie? Yes. Do I think the twist is plausible? No. But I did enjoy it. I'm curious how closely the movie will follow the ending. From one POV it's divisive.

Initially picked up 15 years ago because my name is Caitlin. Reading again it holds up. Added bonus that I know some about assistive tech now so I got more out of it.
Should read the next one.

Intense. His flares are so visceral, real. Hard for me to not put myself in his shoes. I'm glad I read it but definitely trigger warnings are true.
