I was exceptionally pleased with reading this. I believe it helped me get out of my book slump!
I’m not typically a “thriller” type of gal, but this was got me hooked within the first few pages. I went in completely blind, not knowing anything about the storyline. I’m familiar with Tosca Lee’s work, so the only thing I was certain of was that it’s probably keep me on the edge of my seat. And that it did.
The story follows Wynter, a young woman kicked out of a doomsday cult she’s lived in since she was 7. We see her past and her present up until they meet.
Wynter not only has to adapt to this world she’s believed was doomed for so long, but now she’s seeing disaster after disaster happen around the US. The States are thrown into chaos as a mystery pandemic strikes that causes “early onset dementia” making its victims go completely insane.
I read this in one sitting. Loved the writing style. Loved the realistic family dynamics. This is an incredibly realistic storyline, which makes it that much more frightening. I had to stop a few times just to take in my surroundings. At times, it feels like you’re watching events unfold on the news and not on the pages of a book.
There are a few moments where I feel the story kind of “fast forwarded” things, but even with that, it was a solid and enjoyable read for me.
I’m already looking forward to the sequel!

My daughter read this in about three days. (She’s 10) She said it was a really fun read, and is hoping for some more sequels! She was already a huge Marvel fan, but finding this hidden gem of a character drove it home for her. She loved Squirrel Girl and thought the whole premise was really cute. As a mom, I love that she’s getting an age appropriate “superhero” story that I don’t have monitor like the other Marvel stories. We’ll be investing in this series as more books come out.
As a mama with a child dealing with separation anxiety, I LOVE this book. I’m a sucker for owls in books, and this one is no exception. I adore who they address the uncertainty and fear that some children deal with. Such a great read. Highly recommend if you’ve got a little one dealing with all the “what if’s”.
An absolutely adorable book about a seriously stubborn fox. I see my kids in this story! The illustrations are absolutely amazing and possibly my most favorite part. Lots of whimsy in this one. I’d love to have a physical copy of this one!

Every person needs to read this book! Such reassurance of our value. Max Lucado always has such a comforting message to pass along, and this one is no exception. Beautiful illustrations and a warm message from parent to child but more importantly, it’s the same message God has for us.
Would be a great gift for a baby shower!!!
