Pride & Premeditation was something that I had never imagined. I love Jane Austin’s novels and this was a super fun recreation with a twist as a murder mystery. It even helped me feel a bit justified in my feelings about certain characters. Perhaps a bit unhistorical at parts (purpose of such adaptations are clearly explained at the end), but a fun, quick-paced read with all of the characters you already loved from Pride and Prejudice.

The story was an interesting twist on the little mermaid. However, the unidentified POV changes, slow build, and feelings a bit disconnected from the characters made the story hard to follow and immerse myself in.

Inside Out & Back Again is a beautiful novel in verse about Há, a ten year old refugee from Saigon during the Vietnam war. The verse creates beautiful and heart wrenching images of raw emotion and experiences as Há and her family flee Vietnam and start again in the US. This is a must read. It may be marketed to middle grades but I recommend it to anyone.
