It was unputdownable for me, despite the fact "my politics" line up with Roger Scruton and Douglas Murray. Extremely enjoyable portrayal of a variety of interesting realms -- academics, a hacker, idealists, rappers, gangsters, artists, fashionistas, journalists, politicians, migrants, the aristocracy...all the kinds of things I like in a novel. I don't care if most of the characters are "unlikable," I just like a good story, especially one about the UK.

I almost never give 5 stars to lighthearted novels and I almost never laugh out loud...but this one is Different! It's so good! I just finished it, I don't know what else to say! But here are random thoughts --

I love hiking. This is the ideal kind of romance for me in real life were it to happen this way. I love British stories. Every single character was interesting. It was amazing the way the author could get into the head of the female character so well despite being male, that and the extremely engaging dialogue kept me hooked.

The end is just the right amount of suspense leading to a conclusion that was so lovely it almost made me cry.

I promise it's good if you like funny romance and character driven stories. My average rating for books this year, and I'd say I enjoyed most of them, out of about 50 books is 3.8 if that gives you an idea of how rare 5 stars is for me. Highly recommended.

Excellent thriller, interesting premise, cut throat, unputdownable noir. Pretty damn good for being independently published.

I really wanted to like this one but there are a million commas in every sentence!
