I laugh-cried throughout this book. It's a quick read with gorgeous illustrations, and so much truth wrapped up in it. As someone who lost their mother relatively recently, this book was a balm on my soul. I only wish I had found it sooner, because in the early days of grief when I had no focus, this book would have been perfect as it is short, to the point, and not wordy or overwhelming, which I found most books to be as a newly-grieving person.

Wow. I blitzed through this book in just a few days and, while on the shorter side, it packs a hell of an emotional punch. As someone with recent grief over losing a parent, this book struck such a chord with me. It's such a solid representation of grief, of loss, of the complexities of human emotions told through the lens of magical realism. It had me sobbing during a good portion of it, but it was so well done.
