This was an enjoyable read overall, and I felt she blended the vulnerability as client well with the vulnerability as therapist. However, I have feelings about how many details the author provides about former clients - while I'm sure the names have been changed, I don't think it would take much for a former client to recognize themselves in the vignettes, or worse, a loved one of a former client.

A fantastic blend of memoir and educational - with a great sprinkling of HP throughout. I appreciated the depth, and the acknowledgement of others' experiences Jackson doesn't share (trans women, people of color, etc). It was truly well done, and I loved how the educational pieces were short enough to be accessible to the general public.

Wow. I sobbed. A lot. But I also laughed some (and sometimes sobbed and laughed simultaneously). I needed this book right now. It's been almost 17 months since my mom died, and this book encapsulates so much of what I feel on a daily basis.
