This anthology of short stories had a lot of potential and I was excited to read it. My favorites were Roja (Anna-Marie McLemore), Molly's Lips (Dahlia Adler), And They DIdn't Kiss At The End (Nilah Magruder), The End of the World As We Know It (Sara Farizan), and Healing Rosa (Tehlor Kay Mejia). The others had moments I enjoyed, but often landed off for me - coming across too trauma-porn-ish or else almost fetishistic in the way the LGBTQ character(s) was/were written. At times, these scenes detracted from the stories. I appreciated the diversity of authors, but would love to see another anthology that prioritized trans authors specifically.

It's a cute story. I stand by my dislike of graphic novel format in general (I really struggle to slow down and look at pictures), but I liked the story and I'm glad I gave it a go.

Amazing book. Fantastic representation on all sides. Fantastic world building. Fascinating premise - taking real things and exaggerating them, fixing some things and leaving other things problematic. Hopeful futuristic fiction. Dark at times, and intense, but absolutely amazing, and such a helpful premise for youth to expose them to social justice challenges in a way that feels realistic, not coddling, and also empowering.

Wow. This was a hard and intense read, but a necessary one. The allusions to many of the problems we're currently facing, up to and including "make America great again" and religious extremism, are telling.
