This book was a bit of a different vibe. For starters we got first person POV’s instead of third. I honestly like third person so this wasn’t “better” or worse for me. I think it did make the vibe a bit lighter.
The author herself said bc the characters are younger it’s a bit more New Adult than the first two.
I definitely enjoyed this book. I really loved Liam. He wasn’t as sexist and treated Em better than Horse and Ruger did initially.
But Ruger and Sophie are still my favorite!
I really want to read Picnic’s book but it’s so expensive for a kindle book *sobs*

Sh*t.
Against my morals and better judgement I actually f*cking ate this up.
Again, I don’t love the degradation of the “sweet butts”, more so how other women judge them. I don’t think it was as bad in this book as the first one. I loved Kimber’s character and actually looked to see if she had her own book. I think her character made the whole “wh*re” name calling less aggressive.
I also just freaking loved Ruger and Sofie’s story. I loved that single mom trope. I loved how down bad Ruger was and how he wouldn’t admit it. Even though literally everyone knew LMAO
Plus, we got so much grit and action too! And Sophie is a badASS!
Loved seeing Marie and Horse too hehe
I know as a woman and feminist I should burn this book but… shhhh

I wrote this review and it didn’t save. Ugh.
Basically, I liked the idea. I love a damsel in distress moment. But the writing quality wasn’t good. It was too short too.
I liked that the MMC was soft and gentle with his girl. There wasn’t as much sexism as usual for the MC genre.
The idea was there but the execution was off.

I have such a complicated opinion of this book. On one side, I devoured it and it was honestly well written especially for the MC genre.
I’m mostly familiar with the MC genre on wattpad. I’ve read some great ones on there and decided I’d try and find some published ones. Honestly, I still think wattpad has some of the best.
It was honestly action packed, hot and heavy, but… BUT this was TOXIC. And honestly I think the author owns it? The characters even acknowledge it?! Lmao so I can let it slide.
What I didn’t love was the way women were treated. Specially how other women, including our FMC viewed the “sweet butts” or sexually open women. Just because a woman likes to have sex doesn’t make her a “wh*re”. Just because some women have certain kinks doesn’t make them worth less than any other woman. It just gave me the ick.
Also, my favorite part of these dark romance, gritty men vibes is when they cave and confess their undying love. I wasn’t really satisfied like that here.
BUT, but I did think that the FMC was badass. I really liked her arc. I understood her struggle with the concept of being “property”.
Overall, I’m willing to put my feminism aside for a moment for a good song and maybe… this book series too. LOL

This book is just not doing it for me. I’ve been on an MC book kick this month and reader the Reaper’s MC series by Joanna Wylde. Those books have been a WILD ride, but they’re not on KU.
So…. I’ve been searching for a good series that I can read on my kindle for free. Except none of them look as good! This one was…. YIKES. I really hate to say it but it’s terrible.
The writing is bad wattpad, there are typos, and even though this is a quick read there is still no connection between the characters. I get that it’s short, but the insta love and bad writing do nothing for me.
Sigh.
I guess I gotta bite the bullet and pay for the rest of the Reaper’s series or give up on my MC kick.

WHOA WHOA WHOAAAAAAA
this book was even BETTER than the first! I wasn’t expecting how much we got out of this book!
Everytime you think you know where this is going and who you should be wary of you have to think again!
Personally, I think the romance takes a back seat in this book. We get a lot more focus on Aurora and her personal growth.
Unfortunately, the love triangle fell a little bit flat for me as I think it has become obvious where it is headed. I’m not sure how I feel about it, a little disappointed, but I’m sure I’ll get over it!
I don’t think we got enough of Callum’s character in this book. I found myself constantly frustrated by Aurora and how she wouldn’t push for answers hard enough. For this reason, I felt the middle did drag a little. She didn’t push back, or ask the right questions. Her and Callum’s interactions were particularly frustrating because neither of would ever really say what they meant. That’s the main reason I can’t quite give this a full five stars.
In contrast, Blake’s character had a LOT of development and depth revealed. He is VERY intriguing and just AHHHH SO YUMMY AND EVIL.
BUT things did pick up again and the last 20% of this book BLEW ME
AWAY AGAIN!
Aurora FINALLY got some answers and so did we. I’m SUPER excited for the next book. I just found out this is a trilogy and I just can’t imagine how we can wrap all this up in ONE BOOK!
I’m going to be waiting with baited breath for book 3!

This book actually blew me away. I was thinking I’d find a half plotted werewolf romance but instead I found a rich cast of characters, a werewolf world set in 15th century scotland with highland warriors being the wolves themselves, and a golden retriever MMC that breaks the mold!
This book dives right into the plot. With a few pages we are in the heart of the story and it was just what I needed!
I really loved Callum’s character. He was loyal, gentlemanly, and also so obsessed with Aurora!
Then we have Aurora. She was an interesting character. I feel like much of this book actually covers the fact she has no idea who she truly is, she just on a journey for freedom. She’s grappling with the idea of what that freedom is, what form it will take, and who will lead her to it. Is it the charming wolf alpha or is it herself?
Then of course we have Blake. He’s a very. Interesting character. I was intrigued by him from the beginning, but by the end I can take we’re getting a love triangle. But let me tell you…. I kind of love it!
Personally, I think Callum is a breath of fresh air and I’m kind of rooting for him.
But of course, Blake is deliciously dark and dangerous so of course I’m will to hear him out (of read between his lies 😏)
Besides the hot romance, this book also has a thick plot in the works with LOTS AND LOTS of action! I absolutely LOVE IT!
I mean that ending?! AHHHHH I needed book 2 immediately

This book was like a glass of iced lemonade on a hot summer day. You’re sitting outside at a little table and you have so much time to do nothing you have not a care in the world apart from the paths your mind wanders and the sour sweet sips you take from your drink along the way.
This book was less 150 pages and yet I feel like I experienced so much as I read it might have been 400. The first half of the book that takes place mostly in the bookshop was my favorite. Everything said in this half felt like it deeply resonated with where and who I am right now. Which makes sense, since I’m around Takako’s age.
Overall, I think this book is not character driven or plot driven, it’s people driven. The author hopped into the car of life, gripped the written word in his hands as the steering wheel and took off.
I think there is a quote for everyone in here and everyone should read it. I’m biased though since I’m already a reader.
