I can remember my nan talking about the Land Army and the WAAFs when I was a child, and I thought of her (god bless her soul) as I was reading The Land Girls.

I am on a real historical kick at the moment, and I have been reading a lot of stories set in WW2 to get my fix.

The Land Girls, based on the the Australian Women's Land Army is a beautiful, but at times heartbreaking story of the women who went and worked the land while the men were away during WW2.

It is a beautiful story of strength, of friendship, of the family we make, who are not our blood family.

I may have shed a tear or two as our lovely ladies, from all walks of life, forge such special relationships.

I did the tree change myself from the city to the country a while ago now, so I could feel some of their struggles (though I never had it as bad as these girls did!) especially with isolation.

Once I got into this story, I did not want to put it down. Heartfelt, heartbreaking, but also full of hope and wonder, I felt this story with my whole body.

This was my first Victoria Purman story, but it won't be my last.

Oh my, Natasha Lester knows how to write amazing stories.

Before you start reading, google Lee Miller Hitler bathtub for a bit of an idea of what kind of woman our leading lady, Jess May is inspired by.

I just started singing Pop Musik by M as I was writing this, as our story takes us from New York and all across Europe during the last couple of years of WW2.

I was drawn right into this story, and swept away with Jess and the other female war correspondents, who tackled not only war, but misogyny and sexism every day.

She caught the beauty of war, along with the pain and suffering and horrors - I found myself googling people and places as I was reading, as I needed to get more of a visual of the places she was writing about.

Told both in the 2000s and during the war, it was wonderful to see the links form and get uncovered between The Photographer of today and of the amazing people surviving the atrocities.

I couldn't help but turn each page to find out where she was next, what she was capturing, what emotion I was going to feel next.

This story has also made me interested about reading more of the ladies like Martha Gellhorn, Lee Miller and their ilk.

Thank you Ms Lester for another amazing story.

I did see, prior to picking up this book to read, reviews saying there was lot of religious aspects to this story - usually an insta-NO for me.

However, as this was a SC Stephens book, I decided to read this one.

And whilst I kind of liked it, it was also kind of meh for me. Not just for the religious overtones either.

I think the main thing that didn't do it for me was Mallory.

I liked Michael, I loved how he stuck by his thoughts and what he wanted to do. I hated that Mallory pushed him to do things different, didn't take no for an answer, then when he asked er to do something, she was like nope, not happening. Pot, meet kettle.

The whole story just felt a little light on... everything. I don't know, this one just wasn't for me (and I hate saying that, because this is Kellan Kyle's mum).

Firstly - hottie alert 😍😍😍I just want to lick that cover and call him mine!

Secondly -My oh my, was Viper worth the wait or what?

Hell yes it was!

Halo and Viper don't go from one big bang to a whimper - oh no, they go from one big bang to another lol.

But boy oh boy, did I want to shake some sense into Viper at times. I mean, gah! Seriously dude!

I admired Halo's strength through it all. His world is changing so much, and he takes it all in stride, whilst Viper just acts like a petulant child at times, and I wanted to throw my kindle across the room in frustration. I may have yelled at him a few times lol.

Now, being a trilogy, we know that things are not going to be ending for them yet, however the last 15% of the book had me a wreck.

There were things that I thought would happen in this book that didn't, however seeing where this book ended and where the story is headed in Angel, I think they will happen in that book.

And I can't wait.

I know it is only a month away, but I need Angel, right this minute.

You know what the first things I watched was when we got Netflix over here in Australia?

9 seasons of Forensic Files. Yes, I am that person. Forensic shows. True Crime shows - gimme gimme gimme.

Therefore, it was a no brainer to read When The Dogs Don't Bark.

What in interesting read it is, getting the first hand point of view of a person who has been involved in forensic science, and the changes to that field since the 1970s.

It did come across as a bit dry at times, however with the subject matter this was pretty much going to be unavoidable in my opinion.

A good behind the scenes look at what those CSI type shows makes look quick and easy.

Chantal Fernando - who is this woman, and what have you done with little Clover?

It was great to get back into Wind Dragon's world, seeing where the guys and their ladies were at.

I was intrigued as to Clover's choice of employment, however as the story continued, I could understand why she went that route.

I love how strong, fierce and fearless she is - however in this book, I could feel her selfishness come through the pages too, and I wasn't expecting that of her.

Love, lust, betrayal - Clover goes through it all in this book. I mean, who can she really, truly trust?

Enter Felix, and I am all hellooooo! *fanning myself* arrest me officer, I have committed some kind of felony!

I was always waiting for the shoe to drop, and when it did - I don't know, I was just expecting more. Don't get me wrong, I like how things were dealt with like adults, however I wanted a big blow up. But that is just the kind of person I am hahaha.

I love, love loved getting more of the WDMC - especially my man Tracker! Oh, how I adore that man!

I do hope that we do get more of Wind Dragons - The Next Generation in the future.

Wowsers! I knew I needed more of Dr Aiden Pierce when I was reading Lost Boy, but I did not know how much I needed it.

I wasn't sure what to expect going in, however Ms Robinson has just messed with my head and ripped my heart out, stomping all over it (and I am sure gleefully laughing at us readers).

The queen of angst had me in knots right from the prologue, and now as I have finished reading this one, those knots have not left my stomach.

Another beautiful, heartbreaking, big fat tear inducing story (one that should not be sneakily read at work, take warning!).

But now what am I going to do for the next 2 months until part 2 comes out? I can't wait to get my hands on book 2.

I absolutely freaking adored The Flatshare!

I have read plenty of room mates to more stories in the past, but none of them were anything like The Flatshare.

This is a quirky, funny, uplifting romcom/dramedy that kept me up way past my bedtime to get it finished.

Tiffy and Leon are both relatable, likable and just plain enjoyable. I liked the way their -ship starts - it is hard to really describe things without giving anything away. It is on the unusual side, but is not so far out there that it is unbelievable. I really liked it, and couldn't wait for things to progress.

This was a completely fresh and fun story. It does have its darker moments as well, but they are dealt with wonderfully.

There are some amazing secondary characters that made Tiffy and Leon's stories will rounded and complete. They made me laugh out loud at times.

The Flatshare is one of my favourite books of 2019, and a great palette cleanser for the rom-com genre, which can (and has lately) gotten very stale and similar.

Wonderfully paced, delightfully written, if you read only one rom com this year, make it The Flatshare.

Review of audible edition

KJ Charles, you had me at orgies!

What a sinfully delicious book! In the last year I have become a big fan of KJ Charles, and particularly the audiobooks. I have been waiting for this one to come out in audio, and it was worth every second of the wait.

The debaucher. The debauchee. The badarse woman. All of them thumbing their nose at convention, and doing it in a delightful way.

This was a fun regency-style romp that had me smiling and laughing in some most inappropriate social situations.

I love this narrator. Cornell Collins has that great balance of naivety and sauciness. He made me feel like I was sitting in the drawing room, drinking tea (or in the case of these characters, something a lot stronger).

This book made a road trip in the rain this weekend all the more enjoyable. I hope we get more light hearted rom-comish stories in the future.
