If you want to read a nonfiction book that will have you wanting to throw the book or your phone when you listen to an audiobook, please pick this one up. I personally picked this one up after a friend mentioned it to me after we discussed what exactly is going on with Britney Spears (Free Britney btw).

This was extremely frustrating in the sense that once again, I am learning historical information about the United States from a book. Facts that will probably never be taught in school. Who know President Harding was a proponent of eugenics and sterilization? I sure didn't - take him off your list of favorite presidents (I sure hope he wasn't but take him off). 

This tragic story follows Ann Cooper Hewitt and her fight against her mother in court after her mother has her sterilized right before Ann turns 21 plus the history of the Cooper Hewitt family and Ann's mother's dalliances (of which there are many).

We also got information on the history of eugenics and sterilization in both the United States and Europe (including who exactly did Hitler and the Nazis get inspiration from for their disgusting and deplorable eugenics).

It breaks my heart to give this one 3 stars. Really. It was going to be at least 4/4.25 star rating until the third act.

Starting off, this book is the second in a series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the first book.

I was absolutely devouring this on audio (same narrator as the narrator for One Last Stop), but then it all went downhill. 

I was really liking this one until the third act. Two third act conflicts - one of which was was resolved in just a few paragraphs? 

I really enjoyed Tara and Seth’s small town, date on a date relationship. It was cute and actually a little relatable. However, I found that the narrative of Tara not being able to love again due to her ex was mentioned a little too much (in my opinion). 

Seth basically ‘slut shamed’ Tara at the start of the third act and that’s when it started going downhill for me. It’s like the glass sealing broke for me and all of the cheesiness of the plot came came down. It just kept getting cheesier.

Is this a cute read perfect for a quick summer read. Yes

Will I read the first book in the series now? Not sure

One of the best memoirs that I’ve ever read. I’m still in awe. More of a review to come, but until then - if you like memoirs, pick this one up!

Would have been 4 stars, maybe 4.5 until there was a last minute conflict that could’ve been avoided with conversation. Third act conflicts are something that I’m not a fan of.

Otherwise, I loved these characters and will be reading the other books in the series

A great audiobook to throw on for a long car ride. It got me through 7 hours of driving.

I usually don’t enjoy true crime books where the author inserts their own story within the narrative, but what Becky inserted about herself actually fit in the timeline. 

This case is just another example of why freedom of information requests are so important. Keep requesting that information 

It’s hard for me, as someone who usually sticks to thrillers, hard hitting literary fiction, true crime, and memoirs, to find a romance that I don’t want to put down.

Luckily, almost every romance I’ve picked up in 2021 is one that I want to sit down and finish in one swoop.

I didn’t quite finish Crazy Stupid Bromance in one sitting, but if I didn’t have that silly thing called a job, I definitely could have.

Crazy Stupid Bromance is by far my favorite of the Bromance Book Club Series. I absolutely loved Alexis and Noah and I’m glad Lyssa gave them their own story. 

I can’t wait for book four of the series that is coming out in August
