I was so excited to read a serendipitous romance, but I was so disappointed.

I found the plot very merandering, clunky and confusing. The romance was obviously a slow burn but with zero witty banter, chemistry, or development to keep my interest.

There’s also only so much I can take of a main character mentioning their ex constantly. 

It was so hard to read a book where the main character not only has a selfish sibling that won’t help out with their sick mother, but is also a doormat to basically everyone.

I’m not sure why people are already sharing their top reads of 2021 when you never know if a read at the end of December could make the list.

I’m so glad that I fit this in to my reads this year and it is a must read!

The main character was so delusional for her age and it was so hard to suspend disbelief that she was actually that.  naive. She was naive from the very start and it didn’t get better. 

Dee is a horrible friend - no one wants a friend that wants you to stay with someone you don’t love just so you can be in a relationship.

Also - who, WHO in their right mind digs threw someone else’s suitcase? It’s the germs and who knows what else for me 🥴

Jasper and Suki were horrible characters.

Ted, Gerry, Sandy, and Sandy’s husband were the only characters I really liked. 

I think this quote is where the book (pg 106) really started to go downhill for me,

“Do you think it’s possible to be a romantic and also a feminist?”

It’s 2021, almost 2022 and stuff like this is still being said in romance books?

Also the eye roll I gave the epilogue 🙄

I was absolutely loving this, was ready to give it five stars, and then ending ruined that. WHAT WAS THAT?! 

Maybe this isn’t the best work of the duo or maybe I just need to stay away from work place romances

A quick, dystopian read with an interesting premise - a fictional autobiography of Miriam, a woman who came of age during the Great Reckoning (approx the time of WW1 and the Spanish Influenza)

While this was a quick read and very interesting, I found some parts dragged a bit and seemed repetitive. Also, I found it hard to figure out the age of the person at the center of the biography. We were only really told her age up between 20-30s and then later when she’s 80. 

If the “editors” of the found autobiography added plenty of footnotes throughout for clarity but it’s hard to follow along when you don’t know how old the person is. I also would’ve liked to have seen a map so I could get general idea of locations as the world lost the deceptions we use during the Great Reckoning. 

Definitely recommend to sci-fi readers and anyone looking to get into the genre with a lighter dystopian.
