If you’re looking for a escapist, cozy mystery look no further.
I devoured about 40% of this after reading the leaked opinion regarding Roe v Wade and this was the perfect book to take my mind off of it.
Witty with multiple mysteries and a fun crew of family and friends to help Tempest solved the mystery - this is the perfect book to sit down with when you need to take your mind off of anything.

I read about 115 pages in one and then randomly lost interest while reading. Haven’t had any interest since. Tried to read on today, and I can just tell that this one isn’t for me.
I’m not a huge fan of thrillers centered around toxic relationships and that’s what this one seems to be. Let me know if I’m wrong.

The hold this author and this series has on me right now is unreal.

It’s infuriating to listen to two people whom are highly educated and be so horrible at communication.
Don’t get me wrong, I love forced proximity tropes but this was just meh.
Almost felt like a copy and paste from The Love Hypothesis. Also, I think Ali was going for ace rep in our hero in this one, but I’m not sure.
I feel like so much time was spent on the build up and miscommunication that the last scene was just not quite there for me.

So bored. Interested concept but I need more to draw me in than an almost 50 year old basically having a mid life crisis with the attitude of a teenager.

This is the locked room, isolated island style crime thriller I wanted from The Guest List, but didn’t get.
I’m about to binge my way through the Shana Merchant series and I’m not even ashamed.

Don’t waste your time on this one. While it a good memoir (details of a messy moment in time of the authors life), Inventing Anna on Netflix gives more of an all around look at Rachel and Anna’s story.
I did like seeing more of Rachel’s side as the Netflix special did mix a few things up there, I found this memoir repetitive in places. For example, Rachel shared so many texts from Anna that were almost the same that it got tiresome to read for what felt like the fourth or fifth time in such a short memoir.
Also, as Inventing Anna puts Rachel as a poor girl fledging her way through NYC - it’s important to point out that her father was running for Congress at the time this was all happening. Let’s just call this for what it is - privilege at its finest for being blinded by a fake heiress and deceiving yourself into thinking credit card companies care about your friendships

File under: Clever COVID Convenience
Premise was clever but I think the ending was a bit meh.
I do think that this was a great take on a COVID mystery (definitely not a thriller), and that if such a thing can be said, COVID was approached appropriately in the plot.
