I’ve really enjoyed Katherine Center’s recent releases so when I heard her newest one would be a flipped bodyguard situation, I was sold

I did enjoy each character had some emotional growth here and it was a cute rom com, it isn’t my favorite from her. 

Sadly, the chemistry wasn’t always believable between Hannah and Jake like it has been between other characters in her past books. Additionally, the ending and final conflict was a bit ridiculous and came out of absolutely nowhere. 

The ending combined with the epilogue full of rhetorical questions had me rolling my eyes and knocking this down a star.

Dark, twisted, and the perfect, gritty thriller follow up release from Ashley Winstead.

Starting off, Ashley gives the reader a list of trigger warnings that occur in the book so make sure to check into that list before diving in. 

I almost felt like Alice falling down the rabbit hole here has Shay Evans and her friend Jamie drag us deeper into the dark underworld uncovered surrounding Shay's college alma mater and the number of missing women in New York. 

At the forefront is the dynamic of gender and power in today's society. As Shay and Jamie tried to uncover what happened to Shay's friends Clem and Laurel, they find themselves looking into a cult that has Shay divulging secrets to Jamie about what really happened to her in college in the form of podcast transcripts. 

Be prepared to get uncomfortable and buckle up for the last 50 pages or so. 

This won't be for everyone and I know a few friends expected me to hate this one, but PSYCH - it's probably going to be in my top 10 books of 2022. You know I can't resist anything culty or with podcasts woven in.

Devoured in about 5 hours for a book club meeting. Absolutely loved it.

Thanks Celadon and NetGalley for an ARC. Too many characters to keep track of, the chapters are too long, and the sudden POV change just didn’t work for for me.

It had the great gothic vibes surrounding Savannah, but the cast of characters and POV switches took away from the atmosphere. 

The toxic diet culture in this one was a huge red flag for me. 

I loved book one of the series and I’m excited for book three, but this one was a miss. 

I did appreciate the awareness for learning disabilities as well as being diagnosed as an adult, but that was largely overshadowed by the use of toxic diet culture.

I found the relationship to have zero chemistry and some plot points and dialogue seemed to be repeated. 

I need plot 

When the first 3/4 is so boring that the last 1/4 can’t make up for it.

I am begging authors - please stop making pregnancy a characters entire personality.

My least favorite Ruth Ware for sure.

I was really looking forward to this one: a mixed race couple who both address that they both experience mental health issues meet and bond at a bingo hall.

So going from there, the mental health rep was great including the importance of finding a therapist that works for you. 

The use of the bingo hall was fun, I really enjoyed that, but there were a few details there that seemed off. Including there being no winners with three numbers left? Improbable

Why I’m DNFing:
1. Apparently food themed sexual innuendos make me gag. I don’t know if I ever want to eat peach cobbler again 

2. Aja almost doesn’t brush her teeth because she likes the taste of him? GIRL. MISS. WHAT? Do people actually do this??

3. Due to reading this after publication date, I got the audiobook from the library for a tandem read. I personally don’t like how the narrator does Walker. The tone and cadence didn’t seem to match the character. 


While I think this one has qualities a lot of people will like, it just isn’t for me.
