It still feels weird to not like someone's memoir, but when the only evidence this 'cult' exists is from articles and interviews from Michelle alone, does this cult exist? Is this just a grab for money?

If cult experts, especially those that focus on the multiple ones in California know nothing about this so called cult, does it exist?

While I'm grateful to Algonquin for giving me a copy to review, I'm worried that they didn't do their research either. 

For a memoir, this is very bare boned. Minimal information shared. Minimal actual foraging information. It's like she's still trying to protect a lot of people. Which I guess would make sense if she's scared for the people still involved, but it could also be to protect her lie?

Sometimes ‘classics’ don’t need a resurgence and I’m wondering why both LGBTQ classics I’ve read this year are also full of racism/antisemitism/inner misogyny? 

The amount of times the N word was used as well as the many antisemitic comments are disgusting. Since the author added an authors note for this rerelease, I wish she would’ve addressed that.

Well…maybe don’t pick this up given the current situation of the Titan and don’t pick it up if you’re about to fly

Great summer, popcorn read but 100% do not do the audiobook 

Enjoyed more than Falling 

I think this is my thriller of the summer? The one I'm going to push into everyone's hands? Could it be the thriller of the year for me?

The Quiet Tenant ramped up the locked room feeling with a closed cast of POVs from various women involved in the story (victims, daughter, and lover). Each chapter added a little more terror to the story, just like a good thriller should. 

This was a pure, dark, thriller. No mystery and plenty of trauma and will to survive. I had to drop everything to finish 

Thank you Knopf and Netgalley for an ARC, I'm so happy that I finished it on pub day so I can share it constantly this summer. 

Elliot…needed a ghost writer to clean it up just a little bit in some spots for grammar etc. 

I think the writing on this one does a great disservice on the life story Elliot is trying to share with us. While it was easily digestible and I wanted to keep following Elliot’s story, the timeline jumps make it jumbled and it was hard for me to focus on the story. However, that was probably also because I was driving and working while listening to the audiobook. So i was distracted. I want to emphasize that the time like jumps didn’t affect the story. I just needed to keep rewinding and give Elliot the attention he deserved. 

Elliot’s narration of the audiobook comes off very dull and monotone. If I didn’t know it was Elliot, I would’ve thought it was AI. 

I hope that he talked to Kate about all of the details he mentioned on their relationship (edit she was mentioned in the acknowledgements, but I'd be interested to know if she knew he was going to put this much detail in).

Sadly this joins the long list of celeb memoirs that didn’t work for me as much as I wish  it did!

I also wish the editor would’ve told Elliot to remove so many mentions of excrement. That was weird and unnecessary at every mention. 

I still recommend picking this one up, but if you like me need a through line in memoirs with well connected time jumps - maybe skip it OR listen to the audio when you can focus on it alone.
