Well if Emily Austin is going to put “Avoid Mallory, too” in a conversation about baby names, then I’m going to avoid Emily Austin

DID NOT FINISH: 77%

I picked this one up for my most recent flight and was hoping to get sucked into a thriller, but sadly that’s not what happened.

Even at 77% into the story, nothing remotely mysterious or thriller has happened. The story switches between past and present POVs of Becca, Wyatt, and Grant surrounding the death of Grant’s sister, but doesn’t give us much. Each character comes off as one note and each does stupid things.  Additionally, each character is even more annoying than the last.

I loved this but there are a few things keeping me from giving it five stars.

First: it’s a remote island, how did they get electricity and water?

Second: Where was the reunion between Juno and her parents?

A ride meant to be a vacation read

Listen I know I’m in the minority, but I had a good time reading this one.

Great vacation read and definitely better than the Maidens

Fast paced and I didn’t want to put it down.

I do however warn you if you are someone that doesn’t like popcorn, airport, vacation thrillers because that’s exactly what this is
dark medium-paced

The ending definitely saved this one, but it got a little snoozefest worthy in the middle. I would’ve liked more action
