This is a DNF for me at 23%. Thanks to the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted way more rum runner and code breaking activity as promised, but at this point all we've really gotten is a very little bit of both with a lot of 'baby on board' and 'I grew up in poverty'.
Also for being set in Miami and Key West, it doesn't really feel like it's been set there. The author just calls out a well known street and the Key West roosters, but doesn't bring Key West to life.

I now understand why a lot of Gen Xers hate reading millennials in fiction. Astrid Dahl may be the worst character ever?
Since no one else has mentioned it (that I’ve seen)- I will because I know it can be triggering.
The main character drives while drinking beer and then gets upset that she finished her beer while still having like 45 minutes left of her drive.
Insufferable characters can be great, but to write one so self absorbed as this one, it makes me think what the author thinks is okay for people to do that may endanger others.
I was looking forward to this one, but I’m not going to continue because I’m so mad at this character (and author…and editor)

In the nicest way possible:
I didn’t think it could get worse than Survive the Night, but here we are.
BORING.
Hated the random time jumps within chapters. Hated the repetitiveness that gave nothing. Hated the audiobook narration.
Thanks to the publisher and libro fm for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
