I would have liked this more if I wasn’t incessantly and jarringly reminded that this is trad-pubbed reylo fic

I only read this to prepare for the upcoming second season of the show which I fully expect will continue to improve on the source material. This book was marginally better than the first - at least I enjoyed the banter. However this series continues to be rife with misogyny and lack of consent that make it impossible to enjoy fully. I have no interest in preserving the “way things were” in historical romance novels and my priority of an enjoyable story hasn’t been met by either book thus far.

not only is the rape scene a million times worse but there are a lot more scenes featuring weirdness surrounding consent -- truly a bad time was had
