This book wanted to be doing more than it was. There were far too many subplots going on and I wished we spent more time honing in on the main six. I wanted more clues as to what was to come instead of oh, well okay I guess that happened. It had a lot of good tropes but I don't think they were used particularly well.

somehow this series seems to progressively pull itself out of the absolute hatred I originally felt for it -- yes, this book was literally just a Cinderella retelling but it was cute and fun and I had a good time and there were only 3 or 4 moments that made me want to gouge my eyes out
