Y’all I know some people were kind of meh on this one but I thought it was 100% better than restore me — I’m a big fan of the Ella backstory and I can’t believe I waited so long to read the books that came after the original trilogy

An incomplete list of characters I’m 100% over:

1) Adam Kent

I’ve never really been able to decide if Warner is worthy of how much I love him as a character, but maybe that’s just because I hadn’t read this novella yet bc i love him and I loved reading about him going through Juliette’s journal.

Honestly there just...wasn't too much to this one but it was really nice to have something quick to read before Imagine Me so that I could remind myself of how Defy Me ended.

The premise of this is so good and I appreciated the excellence of the set up for the romance, but a lot of the world-building felt off and the non-romance plot made very little sense. Dani's role within the rebellion seemed entirely useless by the end and she was also overall just fairly frustrating as a main character. It was a fun time, but I'm not sure if I'll be picking up the sequel.

I was recommended this little book by a friend, and although I procrastinated horribly on reading it, I am very glad I did. The characters are lovely, their stories are poignant, and Wilder's writing is a joy to read.

It's difficult to sum up how much I loved this book. So I'm not really going to try this time around (I suspect I'll have more to say after the next read) except to say that this book is the quiet sort of joy that means so much, especially now.
