» PLOT «
Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships--but her best friend does, and that's what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is dating leads her to a lie where she panics and kisses the first man she sees. That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor. With both benefitting from fake dating, both agree to keep up the charade. But as they spend more time together, Olive can't help but see a different side to Adam.

This book was presented to me as an enemies-to-lovers, and let me make that clear: it isn't one. So the following rant is kinda not deserved, but I already typed it out:
Ok so, I absolutely despise it when the enemies-to-lovers trope has a surprise "I secretly loved her from the beginning" part. I feel like it cheapens the enemies portion of the book. I don't mind if it originally started as enemies, and then one of them becomes enamored. But if there was never a mutual enemies portion, it isn't really enemies-to-lovers. It's a lot like the "it was all a dream" thing. It makes it all matter less. But of course, this wasn't even a true enemies to lovers, since they are not enemies, so if you read this, you just wasted your time reading about me (and my preferences) and not about the book.

There was one main thing that made me not rate this 4 or 5 stars. Apparently this was originally a Reylo fanfic, and I'm not sure it if that is true, but it does feel like a fanfic. There were so many poorly executed forced proximity scenes that resemble fanfic. My qualms with this book is not the fact that it was originally a fanfic (especially since if you don't know that it is fanfic, it changes nothing), it's that the plot is not well done and an overused one at that. The scenes just felt unrealistic and awkward.

Not only that, but the fake dating only came into play because Olive wanted to make it apparent that she wasn't interested in a guy her friend was interested in. Are they not adults? Can they not talk about it? This wasn't that big of a problem, I just wanted to mention it.

I'm gonna mention it, but not really go into it, but wtf was that part about him being able to fit her entire breast into his mouth?

» READABILITY «
Despite the poor plot, I did read this book very fast. There are some books that are just easy to speed read, and this was it.

» CHARACTERS «
The main character, Olive, is fine. Adam is fine. But Anh... why was she the one
instigating the scenes
with Olive and Adam? Considering that some couples have certain boundaries and the fact that this was a professor-"student" relationship, PDA really was forced, unnecessary, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

» WRITING «
The writing is fine, it's mainly the plot.

Also, this book was only told in one perspective. :( It's completely a me-thing, but I prefer it when romance books have multiple viewpoints.

» OVERALL «
While I did rush through this and enjoyed it, I feel like it is way too overhyped (on TikTok) for what it is).

» PLOT «
Rob is an outcast because his father was caught embezzling from his clients, the other people in town. Maegan is an outcast because she was caught cheating on her SATs, forcing a lot of people to need to retake it. When both are paired for a school project, they find unlikely friends in each other.

Not gonna lie, I didn't read the synopsis for this book, so when I first found out that Maegan was caught cheating I was disappointed and didn't want to continue, because I hate that as a topic. But then it was revealed that they were talking about cheating on a test, not a partner, so I stopped dreading the fact that I was reading this book.

» READABILITY «
This book wasn't bad, it was a quick read and aside from the "cheating" hiccup, I had no problems readings this book.

» CHARACTERS «
The two main characters were alright, but I did not understand the antagonists at all. The "comebacks" some of the students had for Maegan made no sense. Connor made some sort of sense, but still.

» WRITING «
The writing was okay, nothing too bad or great.

Tate and Jared used to be friends, but after one summer apart. Jared returned a changed person. Now set on making Tate's life miserable. But this year is different. After spending a year in another country, Tate is determined to make her senior year a good one. This year, she is fighting back.

Like some of the other reviews, I also wanted to see how lil miss Penelope Douglas would get around the fact that the two main characters would bridge the bullying and end up together. Needless to say, the answer is that
the bully didn't actually hate the main character
. :/ So I guess we'll never know.

Also, this really doesn't matter, but, did K.C. actually
like Jared or...? Because if it was all for show, why were they together at nights
?

» READABILITY «
This was a pretty easy read, nothing too difficult to read through.

» CHARACTERS «
WTF was Jared thinking? Jared's reasoning for bullying Tate was so fucking stupid. So rather than
talking to your best friend to keep her in your life, you decide to make her life miserable and bully her
?! HUH?

» WRITING «
Penelope Douglas just had easy to read writing, but it's not like that means it is fantastic or anything.

Overall I was expecting more... of everything really.

» PLOT «
The circus appears out of nowhere. One night it it doesn't exist, the next morning, it appears. As the circus brings in people all over the place, a mysterious competition occurs within its tents. Selected and trained since childhood, Celia and Marco must compete with each other until the end.

I honestly can't accurately describe this book. There's a disappearing/traveling circus, mysterious magic system, and a bunch of other complex people and backstories. I know I was rushing through the ending, but boy was that ending rushed and didn't explain everything. I think I might reread this next year, with the audiobook, and try to pick up on the things I missed.

» READABILITY «
This book (at first) was not an easy read, so after a while, I began to skim and read really fast. Overall, I'd reread, but with the audiobook at 3x speed so that I don't miss anything again.

» CHARACTERS «
The two main characters are nice, but low key not all that interesting. There are a lot of unique characters in this book, but their potential is neither discovered nor explored. I felt that there could've been a lot more done and said about the characters.

» WRITING «
The writing was okay, but a little thick. I felt myself skipping and skimming the book a lot to get to the good parts. Despite that, I also felt that there wasn't enough information. This book was a little too mysterious and there was a bunch of filler.

» OVERALL «
I hate the fact that I found out Jim Dale narrates the audiobook AFTER I finished reading. :( Would've loved hearing him tell the story.

Some of my criticism about this book has to do with the fact that the book was slow at the beginning, so I began to rush reading it, but honestly it also has to due with the amount of filler and vagueness in this book.

» PLOT «
Darcy has been running an anonymous relationship advice service for a while now, and while her advice is spot on, her own love life is nowhere to be seen. After a routine letter collection goes awry, Darcy is caught red handed by Brougham. Desperate to keep her secret, Darcy offers to help Brougham fix his relationship.

I'm not the biggest fan of love triangles, and this one isn't an exception (especially since this is a double love triangle). But out of the two sides of the main love triangle, I never once rooted for one of them. I understand that the MC put a lot into the perceived romantic feelings onto that side of the triangle, but I just didn't see why they were even friends. The other side of the love triangle was more believable (especially since we saw the development of their relationship), thus I rooted for it.

» READABILITY «
Contemporary teen romances simply exist in my mind as audiobooks. I swear sometimes they just get too boring and I have to force myself to continue reading. This audiobook was pretty good though. :)

» CHARACTERS «
The main character is not my favorite, but at least Brougham is alright. All of the characters were pretty okay, nothing extraordinary, but I didn't hate them.

» WRITING «
The writing isn't bad, in fact, so far I really like Sophie Gonzales's writing style (with contemporary romance). It's mainly the story/plotlines that keep making me give her books 4 stars. However, I will definitely be reading her any contemporary romances she writes in the future.

Following the attack of their home planet, ex-couple Ezra and Kady must overcome their problems to work together to figure out what is happening between a war among 2 mega-corporations. Separated in two different spacecrafts and being chased by another, Ezra and Kady must uncover the secrets that led to the destruction of their home and the deaths of the passengers on another spacecraft.

» READABILITY «
This was not the easiest read, but I forced myself to finish it in a few hours. Next time, I would need to take breaks (or if I feel like punishing myself, just continue the whole series during 24hr readathons 0.0)

» CHARACTERS «
EZRA SUPREMACY. That's it. The other characters were okay, and AIDAN was interesting, but honestly all I cared about was Ezra.

The other main character, Kady, was fine, but I kept finding myself skimming ahead to look for sections with Ezra.

AIDAN was a very interesting character, and I loved reading the ideas he had.

» WRITING «
I absolutely love books that consist of multimedia, especially ones that rely ENTIRELY on documents, dossiers, and declarations. It's always a joy to see how the story is portrayed and it really shows the ability of the author(s).

» OVERALL «
I read this during a 24 hour readathon, and boy was I drowning in this book (in a good and a bad way).

I will be continuing this series, even though I like where this left off. I think the next book is
on a different couple, then the two couple reunite in the third book?
Regardless, I just want more Ezra. :)
