- Elly
- Elly goes from hating Bek to loving him really fast, basically i saw no connection
- i know it is a function of the Khui that it chooses two people who are compatible, but i really want it to fail like it did before with one of the other Sa Khui

» overall «
for a smutty book, there wasn't a lot of smut until the last 10%

- two POVs coming together

» disliked «
- was excited to see how the two POVs would connect, and it was not as good as i hoped, not even close
- i saw more between Aubrecht and Sabran than Ead and Sabran
- Tane's POV was short and weak

- Grace's audiobook narrator's voice is my favorite thing about this book
- Grace and Sam's relationship was very cute. the way their relationship was described by both of them was adorable
- Isabel and Cole's budding relationship was nice, i guess
- the cliffhanger

» disliked «
- Isabel going off on Sam was uncalled for. like literally what was he supposed to do?
they literally established the fact that the last person who went to the hospital about lycanthropy was prescribed antipsychotics.

- Isabel and Cole are both assholes. not in a (super) bad way though, just that they are.

» overall «
actually not bad, will actually continue the series

- couple 2: Tremaine and JJ were way better than Tammie and Kareem. their conversations are much smoother and natural. also at least we don't get a POV of one of them hating on the other and rejecting all interaction.

» disliked «
- couple 1: Tammie is one of the most annoying people i've listened to. she HATES Kareem and mentions it all the time. why was this couple the one that was mentioned all the time?
- couple 3: Joss and Nella are kinda boring, nothing special
- couple 4: Lana and Tristan, not bad, just not great
- couple 5: Kayla, Rashad, and Micah... eye roll for the "realization"
- couple 6: Seymour and Grace = meh

» overall «
could've done better with the concept

- this is set up like a murder mystery with us trying to figure out what the incident was

» disliked «
- forces the two main characters to go on a trip with them by claiming that she signs their checks. 1. that is illegal. 2. MCs are 2 of only 5 people who can ruin their bosses careers. therefore: MCs could've fucking stepped up and got out of going on that trip
- miscommunication
- this is set up like a murder mystery with us trying to figure out what the incident was
- saw no connection between MCs

» overall «

- the idea of an unabashed asshole MC

» disliked «
- those parts (yes, multiple) about MC thinking about Whoopi Goldberg's vagina being "solid," "honest," and "magenta".
- MC is vapid, frigid, annoying, and honestly just a plain piece of shit. and no, self awareness and depression are not excuses
- so much sex and drugs (in a bad way)
- MC does a lot of horrible shit to get her ex to sleep with her

- 4 different POVs, but they were all in 3rd person :) however i will say Ro's POV was my favorite
- how Immie and Ro's interactions and thoughts were written
- honestly anything Immie and Ro
- Immie prioritizing her brother over their best friend, based on the reasoning that she's been with her brother since birth. absolutely adore her loyalty

» disliked «
- Immie and Ro's reasoning for keeping his sexuality from their dad was an alright reasoning to why Ro's sexuality needed to be hidden, but i'm not sure why they just wouldn't just say it was some unknown person who Jackson kissed. Why did it need to be one of the twins? They were already keeping the secret that it was actually Arch, why not just do a different, better secret?
- I'm not a fan of Paige as much as the other three, but I can see where she is coming from regarding the pressures from her family, the fact that Immie would always pick Arch over her, Jackson also chose Arch over her, and the fact that her family is never there for her. That kind of pressure and rejection would kill me. It also explains the why she met up with Chase and why she
was the arsonist
. It also explains a few of her actions, especially during the first fire (Think:
hero homicide
), however I feel like the fact that it
was her who set the fires
really wasn't hinted at all that much until half way through the book.

I was a huge fan of Tell Me Three Things, so I jumped at the chance to read Julie Buxbaum's newest book.

While I do like this book, I don't LOVE it. The romance and relationship between Ro and Immie was adorable and so refreshing. I haven't read such a nice romance in a while. Having been written in 3rd person, the thoughts and actions of the characters seemed much more natural and romantic.

As for the secondary storyline of the fires and who set them, I focused less on this and more on the interactions between the main four. I felt that this storyline was weaker and less developed. The reveal of the arsonist was a nice twist, but it was not as captivating or interesting as the romance. Plus, random fire alarms going off while living in California was something I went through, except there was no arsonist, just some malfunctioning alarms, so I honestly wasn't sure if this book was gonna go with an actual arsonist. (What can I say? I'm a romance reader, not a mystery one :P)

Special thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s / Delacorte Press for providing me with the digital ARC in exchange for a review with my honest opinions.

- the sweet, sweet romance.
- i was genuinely curious to who Serilda is going to have a child with...  like it i thought it couldn't be
Gild right? cause we thought he was dead. but if Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares ever taught me anything, it's that i need to start reminding myself that i know nothing about these fantasy magic/fertility rules.

» disliked «
- Serilda, after two months, didn't bring a trinket or something to trade for the third time she needed Gild to spin gold. EVERY OTHER TIME, SHE NEEDED TO TRADE SOMETHING. WHY DIDN'T SHE BRING SOMETHING EVERY TIME? it's not like she was trapped and couldn't get anything.
- Serilda's
stories being true
was spoiled by the synopsis of this book, so i was just annoyed at how late the characters of the book figure that out. and the fact that there were no hints until more than 60% of the way into the book bugged me. i mean i like Chekov's gun and all, still. the spoiling of this plot point just made me dislike the book and the story a little bit.
- not a fan of any of the younger, children characters... (idkw, but i just don't like children in books. like they legit annoy the hell out of me.)

my favorite part of retellings is that even though I know generally what will happen, there's still a mystery to how closely it will play out and who each character will represent.

the thing about Marissa Meyer books is that you can kind of tell the plot twist or ending from here. like here is my prediction: There are going to be some major plot twists coming, but the main idea is that
Serilda is going to help Gild find out his real name. Then they are going to break the curse (like in the fairytale). Gild will be alive again and people will remember the royals. Serilda will also be reunited with her body, so then both of them will be alive again. They will defeat the Erlking and "save" the children. afterward, Serilda will give her child to Gild and since they are together, nothing really changes. they might have have more babies. they will stay in the town, either by fixing up the castle (they probably won't do this) or by living in the town, and the townspoeple might treat them as royalty, even though they won't want it.
i will come back here after finishing Cursed and see how wrong or correct it was.

- plot twist at the end with
Grey being the illegitimate prince

- the idea of Lilith's powers and how the more sorcerers you kill, the more powerful the rest become. would've loved a storyline with a power hungry sorcerer killing their own people for power.
- the combination of contemporary and renaissance universes aligning

- this can be pretty slow, especially the beginning. i began to skim the second half just to get through this book.
