This is my second Meghan Quinn book and I'm starting to wonder if maybe she and I just don't mesh all the way. The book was fiiiiiiine but I never fell in love the way others seem to have with this book.
There wasn't really anything I didn't already know in the book, but it was a humor-filled reminder to get out of my own damn way.
A quick read with a feminist hero and some spicy content. This is my second Morgan Elizabeth read, and while I didn't love it quite as much as Tis The Season, I immediately purchased the second in this series. So obviously, she reeled me in! I plan to keep reading through her catalog.
Just when I was doubting my bisexuality, this book flew into my ear holes and stopped all doubt. I mean, I looooooooved Delilah and I think this book was better. With Delilah, I had an instant crush on her but never fell in love with Claire but here.......Oofda. I have no idea if I love Astrid or Jordan more. The bi-panic and discovering of sexuality that happens with Astrid gave me this breakdown of the thoughts in my brain -- it was fascinating and wonderful. And Jordan is just... I fell in love with her before I cracked the pages of the book.
The story is fun and the spice is great, but the book would definitely benefit from another round of editing. There's several errors, and it also felt like repetitive information a few times. We would be told something and then the same thing would be said almost exactly a few pages later. It threw me off and took me out of the story. But, I still really enjoyed the Gabi and Vic dynamic.
Read this after watching the second season of Bridgerton, and this may be one of the only cases where I like the screen version better than the book. To be honest, I generally do not like Historical Romance but was still interested in the entirety of this book so that feels like it means something. Its just the dynamic between the two of them on screen was definitely more tense and full of chemistry. I also like screen Anthony better.
Pippa Grant books are often silly and a bit campy/over the top but they always seem to be full of spice and happen to be good easy reads that are a bit of a pallet cleanser for me. Sometimes you don't want to go on a big emotional journey and you just want some giggles with your spice. This book is that.
This book took awhile for me to get into. At first the characters just felt so similar to me and I couldn't remember who was who and what was going on, but as soon as things started to get going I was hooked and loved it. Both characters go through their own arcs discovering their own identity and how their sexuality fits into that and I really appreciated it.
A quick easy read with a lot of inclusivity. I enjoyed it while I was listening to it, but now days later I'm realizing that I did forget a lot about it already.
