I'm glad that I read this, but it is not up to par with Alisha's other books.

There are things about Tristan that I just swooned over. This book also really pulled at my heart strings. However, I feel like it just ENDED. I don't think we got a proper wrap-up of all their big disagreements.
SpoilerThe book ended and I screamed, "BUT DID HE ADOPT THE BOYS!?"
My other tiny hang up was that in the first book in the series, Emily kept talking about how smiley and happy and kind Tristan always was and then we hit this book and he's a big ole yelly grump. It just made me have to re-calibrate who he was in my brain and I wish we would have seen more happy, silly Tristan. Otherwise, I really did enjoy the book and will keep reading the series!

I wasn't sure about this book right at the beginning but I'm so freaking glad that I stuck it out! It is sort of a You've Got Mail retelling, which is just *chefs kiss* for me. There is a lot going on in the book and it maybe isn't the smoothest storytelling in the world, but I fell hard for Elliot. His soft romantic heart just did me in.

I was looking for a romance novel, and while this does have a bit of romance and there is an HEA it is mostly a funny, paranormal, mystery novel. I could see how someone might love this book, but I was just not in the right headspace for it.

This book is drastically different from anything I normally read, but it was worth stepping outside my usual.

This book is a perfect easy read. It has fun characters, a plus-sized badass heroine, and a hero that's a bit of a cinnamon roll.

I see a lot of people shouting from the rooftops about this book and it just leads me to believe that maybe I'm not really into the alphaholes and darker romance. *shrugs* It was OKAY but I'm not ready to scream about its amazingness or anything.

I didn't really know what I was getting into with this book and it was just okay. It's fun for fall when you're in the mood for fantasy worlds without a ton of chaos and world-building. This series is a quick read, and you don't have to saddle in for the long haul.

I don't usually read fantasy books, and approximately 98% of the books I read are fully encompassed into one novel. I didn't know going into this book that it was basically just the beginning. This book has a lot of setup with just the tiniest bit of payoff. There are 6 books in the series so far, from what I can see and I do think that I will keep going as so many people rave about this author. Its just a different reading style than I'm used to. I can see how being in this world will be a lot of fun eventually, though!
