I've never read a graphic novel before, but I really enjoyed all the representation and acceptance in this book.
I liked this one better than the first in the series, but there is something about the writing style that just feels a tad incomplete to me. However, I was looking for a fun witchy read to get me into the fall mood and this paved the way for more fantastical reads this fall.
I enjoyed adding an adorable witchy romantic book to my repertoire during the week of Halloween. There may be magic and witches and ghosts, but the book still feels real and relevant and not too far into left-field. I was a bit worried that it would get so based in fantasy that I'd struggle to immerse myself, but that wasn't the case at all. It was very average town that just happened to have some witches in it. It was cute and sweet and worth the read if you're looking to dabble in something a tad bit different from the everyday romance novel. (As an aside, I was not a big fan of the audiobook narrator but I was able to still power through and finish the book.)
I was really into the idea of this book, but the execution just wasn't there for me. There was an odd mixture of descriptions that were incredibly specific and then randomly things had zero specificity. It was jarring to me.
I loved learning about the witches and the coven, but I never believed the romance between Danica and Titus. Also, the book just... ends.

It's definitely good enough to keep reading the series. I love the representation and the good girls and the shibari. Honestly, there wasn't enough shibari for me and I expected it to be smuttier and kinkier when we immediately dive into her being a sexologist and meeting up at a sex club. Still, it wasn't fade to black either. It was like beginner spicy. Immediately starting book two!
Word of warning: This author apparently uses the word "snatch" and I'm not sure I will ever get over the first time it appeared on the page. I will be substituting it in my brain with a less awful term going forward.

I loved the way this man spoke in bed, but I almost didn't believe he was the same person. Like, how he acted all the time just didn't translate into the dirty stuff he would say. It felt forced. Like authors KNOW what we want to hear and so they just throw it all at us. And as much as it pains me to say this.... I need to work for it. I don't want that dirty talk to just be tossed out at me. I want to claw for it, ya know? I am unwell......

A quick steamy read with an interracial couple, a strong AF black woman, and a reformed bad guy.
This book is more adventure and less romance. It was a fun listen, but never made me feel all swoony and melty. Pick this up if you're looking for adventure, though!
