My favorite book of the series. There's a spicy scene in this book that has stuck in my brain over a year later. Well done, Alisha Rai.

I'm not a huge fantasy reader, but as we move into fall I do enjoy incorporating some witchy/paranormal reads into the fold. This is a You've Got Mail retelling (with a scene that was remade right from the movie and made me giggle) with sort of "intro to fantasy books" vibes. It wasn't too much or too overwhelming and I appreciate that as I tend to get lost in all the aspects of creating a new world. It's pretty low on the spice, but there was definitely a moment that clutched at my heartstrings and saved the book for me. Books have to have spice or heart or I just can't get onboard.

I know this is about witches in a witchy town, but I felt seen by this book. Love this series.

This series feels like approachable magic to me. I tend to get lost in all the fantasy aspects, and that doesn't happen with these. Plus there's a mystery to solve while people are falling in love and its just oh so fun.

Have you ever read a book that made you feel like you're too dumb for the book? This book made me feel that way, and honestly, I think it might be in part to how little I know and understand about Mexican culture. The book made me realize that even though I try to read diverse and inclusive books, I have accidentally skipped over this entire demographic and will be making more of an effort to broaden the range and scope of what I read. The book is beautiful and mysterious and pulls at the aches in your heart. I have not read the first in the series and I think I would have benefitted from doing so prior to reading this one. I do wish we got more information and depth into Nicky's life and history, though.

A sweet found-family story that centers around several witches but it also isn't full of overwhelming witchy things. There's a slow-burn sweet romance, but it also doesn't overwhelm the plot. Basically, this has a little bit of something for everyone and was a delight.

I've been looking for a fun, witchy read for this Halloween season after devouring Ex Hex and Payback's a Witch last Halloween season. This definitely filled the void but unfortunately, I read it in a day and a half and now I'm searching again. Lol!

I do think I liked The Ex Hex just a tad bit more than this one, but I'll keep reading this series until she wraps it up. (I assume we're getting a Bowen Book?!)

I've never seen the movie Practical Magic, so I thought as we approach fall and Halloween that it would be fun to read the book and then watch the movie. However, this did not make me want to watch the movie. It feels like almost nothing happens during this entire book. I did go look at stills from the movie, and it feels like perhaps there's enough different in the movie that it may still be fun? Shrugs.
