I have no idea what the deal with me and this book is.
It wasn't able to touch my heart.
o.O
I noticed the parts where it was supposed to be fluffy or cute or heartbreaking, but I did not get hold of my emtoions. I also espected everything that happened to be happening.
I do like it that the Dutch parts are very realistic. I also like the ugly part of having cancer, because life is sometimes just ugly. And I like the thing with the book a lot.
But this book didn't do the trick for me.
I just liked reading it. Liked, a book like this. Hmm.
As everybody on Goodreads, I have a HUGE TBR-pile, and because I was not very enthousiastic about this book, I don't think I will read any more of his book. it is clearly just not my cup of tea. And "So many books, so little time", which you all understand, so please don't judge me for not wanting to read more of his books :) I'm just going to admit it, because otherwise they stay on my tbr forever and that is not how it is suppose to work.

I really liked this contemporary! I can say for sure now that I like this genre better than chicklit. It feels more fluffy and cute and most of the time less predictable.
Back to this book. It is a really nice concept with the letters, and the vicarious shame I felt during reading certain parts of this book is really good! I will definitely read the sequel as well this month, I want to know what follows! I really feel for all the Dutch reading who will have to wait.. This book and its sequel are book of the month at my goodreads bookclub Books Ever After btw.
But somehow, I don't lovelovelove this book, and I think it is because of the characters. I don't know if I really like Lara Jean, I don;t really have the feeling I know her. This is because Josh is saying she is different and I don't see that. or is he just saying that because things are weird between them? I'm a bit guessing here and I don't like to guess.
I do like the thing with Peter in the book, once you get to know him a bit you see that there is more to him than what just meets the eye. I just love him with Kitty. And this is the case with every person, everybody has other sides, personal sides, everybody is acting a bit different in public etc. Once you really get to know someone, that is when a good friendship or a love blossoms. This is how me and my boyfriend got toghether, because we got to knew each other better and better and started to fall in love :) when we look back, we can't pinpoint at which point we fell in love, and that is how it should be.
Because this book shows you the different side of Peter, it lets you see this process. Because I like Peter a lot, and I have no clue when that happened.

It was a lovely ending to an amazing series.
it took me a while (100+ pages) to get into it. I have the feeling it goed on exactly where Hollow city ended. This is really nice if you are bingereading, but I've read Hollow city a year ago or something like that.. it took me a while to get back in.
This book has it own character, just like the first two books of this series. It is really mysterious, and at the part where everything was happening, it really absorbed me. But somehow this book didn't felt as good as the second one. Maybe it is because of the long time gap between them for me, so I do recommend to read this series, but go read them closer to each other :)

It was fun reading about the Selection-world again! I've only read scenes from Celeste, the maid en Where are they now, the rest I've read before. The where are they now-stories could have been longer, it felt a bit rushed. The scenes from Celeste weren't as elaborate as I'd expected. I'm a bit disappointed in the shortness of it, and because it was all (what I've read now, what was new for me) so short I didn't learned much about the characters, which is a shame.
Let me explain this.
I love the unique writing style of this book. I love that the world is dystopian because of climate change. I want to rate it 4* for those reasons.
And I love the ending, it makes me want to read the rest of the series NOW.
And that is quite an accomplishment, because I dragged myself through the second half of the book.
I was so annoyed by the over-the-top erotic moments, bleh. I think they misrepresent kissing and stuff, which is a bad thing, especially for the age this book aims at. Too much feels for too little action. I did not see the point in this, why does this add to the story? So that was really annoying, hence the 2*...
I do want to read the rest of the series. People are telling me the books get better and the erotic moments get less (thank god)(I don't know if more is possible, if there will be any room left for a story, I don't think so). And I really don't get the #teamwarner people so I really want to read book 1,5 and 2 because people say I will understand.

Just as the other book I've read by Thomas Enger, he is really good. The book feels like your average good Sandinavian thriller. Except the main character is a journalist that works closely with the police, while usually the main character works at the police. I don't know how realistic the work of the journalists is, but it didn;t bother me.
But the last part, the showdown, my gosh, genius plot! Love it, extra star because all the pieces fit toghether so nicely.

So, this is another very cute contemporary! Loved reading it!
I really like the message in the beginning of this book, how it is weird that guys who love a lot of sex are seen as cool, and girls as sluts. I like how Jenny Han adressed this subject in the book a lot. I love it when a book carries a good message.
So, I really really really hated the ending. I finished it at 1AM tonight and right away I texted two bookfriends of mine who've read the book to relieve my frustration..
I think it is a missed change. How cool would it be if she decided for herself that everybody would by like 'why did YOU break up with PETER!?' because he is the handsome guy everybody wants to date, but that she would be like 'we were not perfect for each other', that she would give herself time to get closure on it and than would hit it off with Johnny!?
That would mean she was really her own person now I doesn;t rely on other people opions or how things should go according to the outside world, but that she would listen to herself.
I get that this ending can be seen as cute and oh the handsome popular boy falls for the underdoggirl story, but I would have liked a Johnny-ending better :)
This really ruined the reading experience for me. :(
So. 4* for a regular cute contemporary. And extra star for the sexthing, and a minus 2 star for what it is in the spoiler tag, so 3*. Minus 2 is a lot, but because of that, it just didn;t felt like a 4* book anymore. Sorry..

And than we have John. I fell so hard for him. With the party and the car! My gosh. So, I really really really hated the ending. I finished it at 1AM tonight and right away I texted two bookfriends of mine who've read the book to relieve my frustration..

Just as unique and amazing as the first one! I highly recommend this one! Especially if you like books like [b:Robijnrood|11306615|Robijnrood (Eindeloos verliefd, #1)|Kerstin Gier|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1304706126s/11306615.jpg|6510846], [b:Finding Sky|8314214|Finding Sky (Benedicts, #1)|Joss Stirling|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1285772371s/8314214.jpg|13163404] and other girly books with magic. The world is very unique, the main character is very likeable, and the boys are very cute and sweet. What's not to like hihi!
PS this is what good readathons are made of, and good sundays! Started this book this morning hihi #missioncompleted

Just an average police crime book. This has a little bit more processing and labthings in it than a regular whodonnit. This makes the book a bit more interesting, but also a bit more boring at the same time because at those moments, nothing is happening. But I do like it because it feels a bit more realistic.
So, This was a readalong book at my Goodreads bookclub Books Ever After. I was waiting for my librarybook to come in, so I was behind. Then, a friend of mine said I could borrow the book from her. So, yesterday I was like let's catch up with the readalong.
I was expecting to like this bok, but I had a bit of a meh-feeling. it didn't do the trick for me. I would have loved it if I got the know Maddy better before the story really started. To understand really what her life looked like, how she thinks, to understand he. And let's change it all then. Now, I couldn't really connect.
I was afraid, if I put the book down I wouldn't enjoy picking it up again. So I decided to just read on. And I finished it just a little bit past bedtime.
This book, it all went a little to perfect for me. So, it is really hard for me to rate. I didn't really enjoyed reading this book like I've enjoyed other books. But I like the idea of the book, and I like the notes in it. I'm torn between 2 and 3*, but I will rate it 3 because I feel like it is me that is not liking this book, it is not the fault of the book. And I didn't hate it, so let's not be harsh.
