(7.13.2020) Man, I shouldn't be hurting this much considering this is already my third read, buT IT HURTS SO MUCH AND THIS BOOK STILL WRECKED ME.
_______________________________________________
(6.18.2019) I just finished this book an hour ago, and let me just say, I AM NOT OKAY. THAT ENDING WRECKED ME.
A couple of people told me that the sequel is better than the first book, and I'm gonna have to agree! I feel like the writing style is better here (or maybe I just got used to the author's story-telling?). It was haunting, dark, straightforward and harsh. The author definitely does not shy away from the horrors of traumatic past lives and I love that. In a way, it's also very profound and yes, a little bit depressing.
The characters, wow. I feel like the characters really came together here in this book. In The Foxhole Court, we only get a feel of Neil, Andrew, and Kevin, but here I got to see and learn more about the other Foxes. About Nicky and his struggle with his sexuality, about Dan and her past, about Matt and his near-fatal experience, about Renee and her traumatic family. Best of all is Neil and Andrew. Their characters just got more complex, and as a result, I got more invested. These two definitely grew on me in this book, and I would gladly PROTECT THEM WITH MY LIFE.

The plot, ooohhh, how it thickens! There were several moments and plot twists that just took my breath away. The plot is an intricate web of games, relationships, crimes and syndicates, and a lot more. The events are just engrossing, and with every scene I am anticipating the reactions of every character and just how they're going to deal with it. Now, I am both excited and scared for the conclusion.
Actual rating is 4.5 stars! I'll make a series review of the trilogy and post it on my blog after I finish binge reading the whole series (it got me hooked alright! hahaha!).
ALSO, trigger warnings: mentions of murder, child abuse, drug abuse, rape, self-harm, torture

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. SUCH A DELIGHTFUL READ.
I wish this book was being taught at schools. It's enlightening, funny, and above all, significant. This book teaches us many, many things including:
- understanding gender fluidity
- explaining the difference of sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, and more
- understanding how to support non-binary and genderqueer
- gender identity in other cultures and parts of the world
- AND SO MUCH MORE.
Gosh, this book is so precious. Everyone should be reading this, most especially straight and cisgender people.
And of course, kudos to the author and the illustrator! You made this book memorable.
Everyone please pre-order this, you won't regret it!
(I received an e-arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much Sasquatch Books!)

I THINK I FOUND MY NEWEST FAVE? THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD, DAMN.
Only Mostly Devastated is the perfect YA queer romcom fix I needed. With summer romance, HSM vibes, and a whole lot of angst, this book is a great read.
This book was just a breath of fresh air! It was the perfect YA romcom novel I’ve been craving for lately. It was funny and cute, but it was also sad and heartfelt. I couldn’t help but get into the emotions of the main character and relate to him. Surprisingly, this book was also full of angst, and I remember being so emotional early on in the book! Deadpan humor was also laced in the writing which was so good!
The characters were also captivating, and not just the major characters, but also the minor characters. I liked their individual character arcs, especially Lara’s (I spent a great deal of the first of half of the book hating her, and then by the end, I was rooting for her). I loved that these minor characters were not just there for the sake of it, but they were there and they had their own stories going. Will and Ollie were great major characters, and I believed in them and felt for them. The romance? Oh, how I loved it. It was full of angst, and fluff, and just a whole lot of feelings and I loved that.
The plot, though it was simple, was still very exciting and very poignant. We see Ollie overcome personal traumas and have self-realizations throughout the book. And of course, the minor characters’ stories also provided something in terms of the plot.
I also love how this book acknowledged several real life issues. It was such a pleasant surprise! It tackled topics including biphobia, girls with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), men’s gross and unnecessary fetishization of lesbians and bisexual women, outing someone against their will, a girl choosing her career over a guy, and more! This was just so brilliantly done for me.
Overall, I think Only Mostly Devastated is a great YA romcom novel if you’re looking for something cute and sweet to enjoy.

(7.15.2020) I can't believe I just finished rereading this series for the third time. I have nothing else to say except I have so much love for it, I have so much love for the characters, I have so much love for Neil, I have so much love for its craziness and all. I will never get over these books.

(6.20.2019) AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Alright, let me just scream first. Thank you.
WOW WOW WOW WOW. I have so much emotions for this book!
I really came to love the writing style of the author, especially in this book. At the first book, I took a while to get used to it. At the second book, I started to love it. Now, I can see that it pairs well with the plot and how the author wants the story to go.
I absolutely loved the characters and all their character developments AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH. From the very first book, it was the characters that really got me hooked. To see all their developments individually and as a whole team just fills me with so much warmth and satisfaction. I love it, I love it! *hold on lemme just cry again for a moment* Also, I'd like to say I WOULD DIE FOR THE FOXES, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY FOR NEIL AND ANDREW. I'd bundle them up and just protect them from the world. *cries again*
The plot AAAAHHHHH. I loved how it kept surprising me from start to finish. START TO FINISH. The author wrapped it up nicely though, and that ending?!? I AM A WRECK BECAUSE OF THAT ENDING. It was shocking, heart-melting, and just truly beautiful. I absolutely loved it!
Also, can I just note that this book showed the importance of consent is such an amazing way? I am definitely a fan!
Anyway, that's it. I finally finished reading this trilogy. Let me go ahead and cry some more.
Series review of the trilogy to be posted on my blog. (I need to ramble some more about this series!)
ALSO, trigger warnings: mentions of murder, child abuse, drug abuse, rape, self-harm, torture

Thoughts after the second read.
WOW. WOW. WOW. This series carved a fox-shaped hole in my heart and it will forever stay there. Bye. I'm off to cry.

The romance and the characters felt a little lackluster to me (or maybe I just wanted a lot of angst for the romance?? lol), but still, I gotta give kudos to this book and the author because it was action-packed and definitely entertaining! You hear that? You hear that screaming? In the distance? Yeah, that's me. I'm screaming because THIS BOOK IS AMAZING???? IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE? WTF. Let me count the ways, okay...
1. BEAUTIFUL prose/writing, I mean seriously
2. The world-building and the magic system is just INCREDIBLE. So well-thought out, so intricate, so beautiful, so immersive
3. The characters are complex! From the main characters, to the minor characters, to the villain/s of the story, just WOW WOW WOW
4. TARISAI (yeah, that's it)
5. The complicated familial relationships
6. Justice, leadership, politics as main themes of the book (it was brilliantly done!)
7. There are side LGBTQ+ characters (casual rep) which was great to see!
8. THE FRAGILE MASCULINITY OF MEN IN POWER
9. The message that men and women are and should always be equal, and that women's values do not rely on their ability to give birth
10. "Uniformity is not unity. Silence is not peace." (this quote really stuck with me, pretty sure I had goosebumps reading it)
Anyway, there's so much more!!! Please add this to your TBRs or pre-order it right now! This book is just absolutely amazing. It's glorious.
Will post a full (and proper) review on my blog soon!

This was so good, I'm so soft omg. Love the colors and the art, love the various representations! Doesn't exactly have a plot (this was very character-driven rather than plot-driven), but the laid-backness of it all was refreshing to read.

This book is something else, wow! It was slow and it took some time to take off, but once you're invested with the characters' journeys and the problems they're individually facing, you'll love it! Plus that ending! Both so satisfying and puzzling!
