You hear that? You hear that screaming? In the distance? Yeah, that's me. I'm screaming because THIS BOOK IS AMAZING???? IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE? WTF. Let me count the ways, okay...
1. BEAUTIFUL prose/writing, I mean seriously
2. The world-building and the magic system is just INCREDIBLE. So well-thought out, so intricate, so beautiful, so immersive
3. The characters are complex! From the main characters, to the minor characters, to the villain/s of the story, just WOW WOW WOW
4. TARISAI (yeah, that's it)
5. The complicated familial relationships
6. Justice, leadership, politics as main themes of the book (it was brilliantly done!)
7. There are side LGBTQ+ characters (casual rep) which was great to see!
8. THE FRAGILE MASCULINITY OF MEN IN POWER
9. The message that men and women are and should always be equal, and that women's values do not rely on their ability to give birth
10. "Uniformity is not unity. Silence is not peace." (this quote really stuck with me, pretty sure I had goosebumps reading it)
Anyway, there's so much more!!! Please add this to your TBRs or pre-order it right now! This book is just absolutely amazing. It's glorious.
Will post a full (and proper) review on my blog soon!
