What a delightfully cozy read! This is the book equivalent of a warm mug of pumpkin spice latte. I SO enjoy comfy and accessible reads about witches, never reading this book did I feel that it was intense or overwhelming. It was interesting and paced enough to keep me engaged, while absolutely adoring the town, atmosphere and magic of the book.

What a wonderful fairytale! Victoriana and Fairytales are two of my favourite things, and so I kind of knew this book would be perfection before I even began. As I started reading, I discovered the writing was as such that you can just slip into the ether of this book, the same way you slip into the Witchwood Knot, the second dark faerie version of the house, while you sleep.

A true dark fairytale, and not shying away from it! I loved the characters, and their embrace of darkness and morally grey attributes. This feels like one of those books that I will find myself just wanting to revisit, wanting to step into that world again for a moment.

This was my first Olivia Atwater, I was going to read Half a Soul first, but discovered this book and that it was Victorian and it had to be my first. I’m really looking forward to reading the next in this series, and to starting the Regency Fairytale series!
