These books are my personal version of chicken noodle soup, simple & warm & inviting

This book is like a warm plate of pancit, with thick plot lines, interspersed sour and sweet moments, a lingering home made tang and a few surprises of its sleeve. The plot really took an unexpected turn for me with the development of Hero’s love story. The best parts were the author’s prosaic chapters, felt more lyrical than the rest of the book.

Favorite line: "As for loving America or not loving America, those are not your problems either. Your word for love is survival. Everything else is a story that isn't about you."
