I wasn't a fan of the writing. The idea of the story was great but I got fed up with rolling my eyes at the MMC and sped read the book from 30%

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
I made it 10 chapters in and I bailed. The flow was really choppy and the description of the FMC was cringe. I couldn't do it anymore and decided to dnf and go find another book to read.

I adored the first book and was so looking forward to reading this second. I love hearing how Vera gets introduced to social media and seeing the mesh of the new bunch of people she forcibly adopts and how they interact with the characters from the first book. Vera is a hilarious treasure and I look forward to more adventures as her homemade family expands!

Tripped over this book while restlessly looking for something to help me out of a slump and the blurb looked interesting. Started it and could not put it down! I sped through this book and I'm about to jump into the next one. The story and world building are rich and decadent. The female main character is chef's kiss with equal parts badass and relatable. I am loving this story SO much and I cannot believe no one has recommended this to me before!!

This story is a change from book 1 but some of the same kinds of things keep happening... And the ending mirrors the first book which just had me rolling my eyes.
We started out with Calli receiving several tasks and really not accomplishing any of them by the end of this book. Seriously, the girl keeps dropping the ball AND living in denial of her and Emerson being mates. I rolled my eyes so much my head hurts.
This story had all the right bits to be good, but we needed about 100 more pages to sort it out. We get to the end and
the prince once again monologues and puts all the pieces together FOR Calli, who really didn't have any idea what the heck was happening because she wasn't really working on any of this
. Also what the frick happened to the tiny book?
I'm still debating continuing this story with the next book. Like I want a happy ending for her eventually, but this just feels like the Tumblr con where everyone expected great things and all we got was an inflatable ball pit.
