I made it 31% before I DNFd this book.
The premise was very intriguing and I thought it was interesting the different take on a changeling, but I just couldn't roll with the way the characters were written. The cover art and the reviews I saw for it on TikTok is what made me pick it up in the first place. I just couldn't get into it with the way things were set up. I have nothing against the author, it's just not my jam so I'm setting it down and walking away.

I DNF'd at 30% (in the middle of chapter 16) because it was just...not my thing.
This book is basically a cop show written in a vampire/werewolf world but the FMC has recently gone through a bad sexual assault. She's back at work, after the incident, and even though she's in therapy, everything her new boss does/says seems to trigger a panic attack (apparently her previous alpha attacked her and it was bad). It's pretty heavy for it being the first part of the book and tbh, I just don't like the feeling of reading through emotional molasses right from the start.

Sorry, but I only made it 15% of the way through this book before I DNF'd it. I just couldn't get past the eye rolls at not only her age but the ridiculous start to the story. I had high hopes, but it's just not for me.
I DNF'd this book at 54%
So this book seems like it was the writers first book, which I happily support. However there were just too many things that were hard to take so I just couldn't finish it. I loved her latest book (Muted Whispers) and wanted to read more, but this is definitely not a series I can stomach.
The premise is a good one and even while the editing is subpar (forgiveable for first time authors) it was really the wildly ridiculous things that made it hard to suspend belief.
She's a fighter that takes no shit from anyone...except her mom who beats the shit out of her and her ex boyfriend who also beats the shit out of her...yet she's a top ranked martial artist and fighter in underground fights.
There is insta love going on with her brand new guys and within a day they are all horny mofos about to pound. Also her harem gives her sugary sweet nicknames that get used with such stupid frequency that it is pretty sickening. (Darling/Sweetheart/Little Star/Titch) Not my jam, but I'm not one to yuck someone's yum. I just wasn't expecting that right away.
The story is a bit of a jumbled mess and the MMCs get really vulnerable with her really fast. Which might be what someone else likes, but for me it's about the building of relationships that I like about RH.
The vibes are very much like a child made dessert with all the sweetest things they could imagine and then put mushrooms, beef and onions in it, because they wanted some random savory bits. I just couldn't stomach it.

I made it to chapter 5 and not only was it not engaging like I hoped, but it was written with choppy language the scenes were written more like a movie script than a book. And I felt nothing for the characters because things were mentioned but not expanded on in such a way as to make me care. Plus, we absolutely did not need to know what the college age daughter was wearing for a phone call. Blech! I'm DNFing at this point and not coming back to finish it. Just gives me the ick to continue reading
Made it 13% of the way through and was so disappointed in the book. The blurb made it sound like a fun book but the dialogue in the book and the overly detailed description of minutia was painful at best. I just can't bring myself to continue to be disappointed by a book I had such high hopes for.
I put this down and just haven't picked it back up again...
I was super excited to read this story thanks to a bunch of TikTok teasers, but I had to stop halfway through.
Everything feels rushed about the story. One day on campus and already 5 guys are in absolute insta-lust obsession with her. One guy has already rejected her and her only friend growing up is the only one with whom she has any semblance of a normal relationship with. Oh and the pain demon guy obsessed with her sounds like a Diesel from Den of Vipers rip-off.
I have it a shot, but the forcefully rushed pacing just isn't my jam.

I have up on this book halfway through because it got boring. I love the rest of her books so I'll probably try again later, but for now... It's been sitting on my shelf for way too long partially read
